i used the card at Loves in Troutdale OR. The pump would not accept the card, kept asking for a fuel permit number. Went inside and they unlocked the pump. They said to use license number next time. Is this specific to Oregon?

I have not heard of this before. I will look into it for you and give you an answer. I am thinking that it possibly may be a state thing.

It is specific to Oregon. If you do not have a Oregon commercial fuel permit number you pay the higher price. Oregon does not have sales tax so they have to make it up somewhere. I used the card in California and Texas. It works perfectly. Love not having to go inside after fueling. Thank you for this program.

Oregon has two diesel prices, one for truckers without highway tax, the other for the rest of us. The truckers pay a weight based mileage tax on a monthly basis which is 2x what the typical highway tax would be. I always wondered why Oregon implemented this complex system vs just charging all diesel users highway tax. I guess they want to make sure all truckers pay regardless who actually fuels up.

Anyway, it looks like in OR you’ll have to go inside to have them unlock the pump. You still get the 10c off the cash price and if you are lucky they charge you the wrong fuel price (i.e. tax free).

On the way home from Branson I decided to try one of the Quick stops in Nashville with our fuel program. These are the non attended fueling stations on the Profit map with a white “Q.” Great place to fuel, clean, quiet and plenty of room. the downside is the price and it’s my own fault. The pump price was 3.89 with a 5 cent discount. I realized when I got further down the road, Loves was 3.77 or 3.67 with our discount, so my fault, it cost me .17 a gallon while having head up you know where… Like the King of Bling says, you can’t fix stupid.

we filled up in Ellis KS since we left home with a full tank Took on almost 200 gallons priced at $3.67 w/discount. Wow, stopped in, pull to pump, poured it in after swiping card. Put the fuel cap back on, hopped back in drivers seat, drove off feeling like a thief. Kept thinking we needed to go in for a receipt, but I did a phone picture of the pump. This is a sweet set up.

While we could previously get a few cents off using the Pilot / Good Sam card and swipe, gas and go our Profit Tool cards are a much better option.

I previously was spoiled having 250 gallons or 298 gallons for tank capacities, and now I have 208. So where previously my homework to plan fuel stops was to drive from Knoxville to our destination, keeping fuel prices along the way in mind, and then on the return trip fuel at the cheapest place.

Now I go to the fuel locations maps provided by Profit and look for spacing of fuel stops up to 950 miles apart while checking fuel prices to see what makes sense. I would rather take on 20 gallons and absorb the cost of both higher priced fuel and the $10 fee for using less than 100 gallons to get me to a fuel stop that might be $.30 a gallon cheaper. This makes no sense in the context of what it costs to own and operate a bus, but it makes me feel a whole lot better knowing I can buy a Happy Meal with the net savings.

Sorry about your poor planning Tom. I fueled in Baxter TN and my net per gallon was $3.57
