If I have a trailer I don’t want to crawl in and out of the Jeep when loading/unloading. Enclosed trailer look hard to die down the Jeep also.

Art, I do not have much experience on the failure modes of our generators so I was going by how much bang for your buck you will get in terms of protection and that is probably where Progressive’s written recommendation stems from. I have the external version so I don’t have protection from the generator either but if I was going with a fixed version I may still put after the transfer box depending on how close it was connected to the transfer box. You are trading some over voltage surge protection for the transfer box vs all of the other protections that it offers should the generator go bad. Note that I said trading “some” surge protection because you will still have some surge protection if the protection is after the transfer box and the closer (short wires) it is to the transfer box the better.

You would still be susceptible to a persistent over voltage condition even if the protection activates should that occur and that may be a good enough reason to put it ahead of the transfer box.

The manufacturer should really change their published recommendations if they are telling customers something different and an explanation would be welcome as well.

Has anyone experinced or heard of house electrical component failures due to a generator malfunction?

    Good luck.

The 3rd one down is road height. You said you swapped valves, any chance you lost the little tiny O Ring, it happens.

I don’t have the time now to do a check on what the problem could be, but some things came immediately to mind.

Try to cycle the courtesy light switch on the end of the windshield wiper stalk. Also see if there is a relay dedicated to those lights in the electric box. If so, swap it with a different relay. Also make sure a circuit breaker has not tripped.

We are very fortunate to have the friends we have. What is also amazing about the cake is that everything but the stick part of the kayak paddle is edible.

Looks like a nice coach. The OTR air is a huge positive. Ive never looked too close at one with the toilet out in the open in the bathroom. I guess it depends on their application.

If he wants to swap the awing for an air/electric awning model, I know where one could be traded!

Makes the Profit Cards seem like a better idea. A unit number and a driver number are required to turn on the pump and we get an immediate email of the transaction.

WOW, Buddy. You are all alone now. Jon won’t speak to you because you gave up stainless, Tom won’t talk to you since you have slides, 40 footers won’t talk to you cause you went for the longer model and all the CC folks think you are a diserter.

Well, be assured that there are two that will still talk to you, Me and Boater Al. I will speak to you on occasion since you went H, even though it is a Marathon, but you will not be able to shut Boateral up as you now have the H that is a Marathoin AND slides. Unfortunately, my ramps will not fit under a Marathon, so you will have to borrow Al’s ramps.

Wishing you many trouble free miles.

Prevost had several versions of slide controls. Because of this when I inquired if Prevost had any advice for owners experiencing issues I was told that while there are ways to deal with problems the safest thing to do was to contact Prevost with the VIN and have the technician walk you through either the diagnosis or means of making the slide extend or retract.

Having said that I know on my version (which will differ from an 03) I can bypass the controls and manually operate my slides, but when I do that I am disabling all safety features and have to manually control all aspects of the slide operation in the correct sequence. A failure to do some things, and to do them in the correct sequence can do serious and expensive damage.

This presumes the slide is a Prevost slide.

I was surprised on a swap motor for $19K including labor. A terrific comment about remaining with the same motor to reduce the need for a transmission swap. It gives me some more parts of the puzzle. Thanks Michael

Being able to zero out a coach is great but may not be necessary all at once.

We bought our 1999 coach five years ago. Other than a weak house bank which we replaced quickly we had no big surprises. We embarked on a preventive maintenance program starting with the most critical systems first. Over the years we have replaced shocks, air bags, brake pads, tires, upgraded headlights and changed fluids regularly. There were some smaller repairs like upgrading to the automatic belt tensioner on the engine, getting an OTR leak fixed, replacing the upper A arms, etc but nothing too painful. The coach never left us stranded. Next major maintenance will be replacing the brake chambers and relay valves.
