Fuel Credit Card Scam ___ I – 10 Corridor
Today, there is an extensive article on the Black Market for diesel fuel on Interstate 10 and the entire Interstate is involved from Florida to California. I am not an alarmist…. yet the information reveals thieves are installing devices at the outside pumps that record credit card information and then transfer that information to other credit cards. The concept is simple and effective.
In one instance, seven pick up trucks were “outfitted” with 300 gallon tanks using information from 900 stolen credit cards and these seven guys processed diesel worth $16,000 per day…. that’s almost $ 6 million per year….
So… the warning here is that this is rampant… the information from the cards is gathered at the pumps outside…. and the process is continuing to spread. The difficulty in prosecuting is that the amount of stolen fuel in possession at the time of discovery or capture usually is small…. despite the records revealing that every “gang” that has been prosecuted had no less than $5 miilon per year in annual revenues and the higher end went towards $ 20 million.

Makes the Profit Cards seem like a better idea. A unit number and a driver number are required to turn on the pump and we get an immediate email of the transaction.

I don’t understand why more members aren’t using the card now that there is both options for payment, ACH Debit or Credit Card.

The card is the only way to go. Quick, safe and the receipt comes by email quickly.
