It’s not just truckers. Forgive the language but it seems like nobody gives a shit. I have seen aviation change from a profession of skilled pilots who actually knew how to fly a plane to morons that push buttons.

Remember when the service industry actually provided a service with skill and a smile?

I’m off my soap box and will shuit up. 700 plus miles today and my cold adult beverage awaits.

Well it has been two years since I was here the campground if you can call it that has really gone downhill, no gravel just sand and mud and it has just rained before we got here, must make a note to avoid this place, hell I am trying to keep the coach clean, I know Jons will be spotless, had a little problem today dash code said checkengine at next stop, called PASS and we pulled up the fault codes and they think it is the air charger leaking a little told me to go ahead and drive it and fix when Iget home, think I will call the Detroit palce in Bangor to see if they can fix it before I go home. Code did not come back on all day, they said the only noticable thing would be a little smoke and a negligible power loss, can,t seem to notice either, Will arrive at Pumpkin Patch tomorrow if everything goes as planned just 280 miles. See you all tomorrow good lord willing Gary

    Granvil,

I’m glad that worked for you, although it makes no sense when your batteries are each individually connected to a buss bar. It suggests that the single hot battery has a less resistive charging path than all other batteries in the bank. It also suggests the temperature sensor was attached to a cold battery. Even then, something else seems wrong. At 70 degrees the float charge voltage should be about 13.3V and this is typically the default when the temperature sensor is removed. The highest float charging volatge should be about 13.7V at 30 degrees. Even if you are in the artic circle enjoying freezing temperatures, 13.7V should not be high enough to cause the batteries to get hot.

If it was overcharging, then the charger would not have been in float charge mode. This is why it’s important for everyone to occassionally look at what charge state your charger is in. If it doesn’t go to float in the expected time frame or bounces in an out float, you need to look into why. As Granvil discovered, when the charger and batteries aren’t working in harmony they don’t always tell you so through an alarm.

in my royal there were mo filters in the system. Ice is caused by low freon, insufficient air flow or a bad. Expansion valve . Pull tje. Cover and check the inside evaporator coil. Run fan on high if you van. High humidity will not cause a system to freeze u less the coil is below design temperature,

I’ve been pined here all summer and ready to get out.

Maybe next year. I did get my new fuel cards and can’t wait to use them, only thing is my cards have Jon’s name on them, Alicia said that was alright and not to worry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

I had a failure of the hose recently and (formerly Covington) now Clark Diesel of Kingsport, Tn perform the repair. I must have lucked up and found them on sale – he had several on display for 17.95 each and only charged me for the part and put it on. Quick and Hot!!! But I have spent money as we used say “big Lew Bucks” with these guys before. Very NIce Folks!!

But thanks to Gil’s post I see there are two different colors based on temperature needs. I believe I have the blue one when maybe a 500 degree should have been installed. Anyone had experience with blue hose connections only. So far So good .

August 14, 2013 at 8:50 pm in reply to: New Tires – balancing?

Went to tire shop today to check and rebalance the front tires, Michelins 365s. On our last trip I noticed a little wiggle and even a little more in the driver side mirror.

After taking the tire off the bus problem was easily noticed….Balance weights ….Gone.

The bus log shows when the new tires were installed about 22,000 miles ago 5 1/2 ounces of weights were glued to the inside rim. Care was taken with weights first installed by sanding and cleaning before the weight was set on rim.

With this finding out came a box containing a pair of Centramatic balancers. I had purchased the Centramatiic set just in case re-balance didn’t work out. It was sort of plan “B” putting on the Centramatics.

With finding the weights gone adding the auto balancers made a better choice.

Passenger side weights were all in place as installed. These weights were removed and balancer installed.

On the trip home the difference is pretty amazing. Smooth, no shake, rock solid. http://www.centramatics.com

Open the web site, on the left column is there product video demo.

Gil…I would dearly love to change my 24v tailights and front directionals to LED . Looking at that web page,I saw some great prices, but don’ see how I could implement them without a major change in each light fixture. Mine all feed the incandescent bulb from the side of the fixture and radiate around a curved base. If my info is right,an LED shines in a straight line, thus probably not making that much difference for what I am after. Any thoughts?

Stainless or not. If you are lucky enough to live in a region where highway crews squirt the nasty liquid on icy/snow covered roadways to melt frozen moisture called MAG-CHLORIDE, an H would be your coach of choice. Now owning stainless again, and our previous coach was an H, we wonder what was this thought process. Oh ya, we wanted a 40 footer.

Lets just say, placing your stainless clad coach in an environment of mag-chloride, increases your bus exterior maintenance by a 1,000,000 fold. It only takes nano-seconds for the imperfections of the polished metal surface to succumb to mag-chloride corrosion and you have a beautiful display of brownish colored spots. Most western states use this crap to melt the highway surfaces in winter because some motorists dont “drive for conditions”. So we have wet highways like it like it just rained at zero degrees or below. Wet road surfaces below zero aren’t natural! This ice free environment just enables crazy drivers to speed as if they are in the desert. Some states using Ice Slicer: Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, Stainless cladding maybe eye catching, but unless you are able to carry a mobile detailing operation with you on-call, your polishing workload will increase substantially. We would welcome a stainless matte finish and even explored ordering a bus unpolished. But with the “delam” we will stick with factory issued rivets or go back to an H3-45.

    Jon
has been doing all the heavy lifting for this fuel program, while I’m
out running around the country and looking for the cheapest fuel
price. 10 cents a gallon off the cash price is a BIG DEAL and 5 cents
off the cash price is nothing to sneeze at. This program is going to
save PC members significant fuel money that will add up over time,
especially if you’re putting on lots of miles each year, not to
mention ease of use and time saving.

    We
don’t have all the details yet worked out, but I assume members with
this card will be able to pull up to the pump, swipe the card, fuel
and haul ass. Presently, we pull up to the pump, go inside and
surrender your credit card, go back out and fuel, pull forward, go
back inside while doing the fuel/oil foot dance trying to avoid
stepping in all the gunk and then getting out of Dodge. I have pump
start at Flying J/Pilot, so that eliminates one step, but being able
to pump and go will be priceless. I like trucks, been in that
business in one form or another all my working days, but the
necessity to visit the truckstops with the bus is at the bottom of my
wish list. Anyway I can limit my time and exposure at the truckstop
    the better.

    Harvey
    – So you mentioned PC on POG and got the ole boot! Just chalk it up
as a bad experience and spend your time over here. There is no
censorship here as long as you’re being nice and you can’t beat the
    price!
