    Buddy,

You are getting a H3 , Congratulations ! But You will not have all that Stainless Bling , And You might miss Your rivets ? You are sacrificing a lot of beauty for a little more room. Best of luck with Your new coach.

I Noticed that You have 4 extra alcoa wheels listed with the coach. Stud pilot wheels ? Would You consider doing some horse trading on those ?

    BSafe,

    Rocky

Like Rocky, I have the RVDash app. I did laugh a bit when I saw the coolant 100%, because I bet you a dime to dollar the other reading would be 0% if the coolant dropped below the sensor.

Also like Rocky, it’s a helluva lot easier to see than gauges on our XL’s, especially at night.

Its amazing when something like that happens, ten years is quite a coincidence isn’t it? Looks like a beautiful bus!

    Per,

My two A/C’s I can run off the Inverters are the Salon & Bedroom; however, like you and many here (who don’t have OTR air), I turn on the generator if I turn my A/C’s on going down the road.

Only needed them once while running down the road, and that was heading into the sun in 95 degree heat.

BTW: I think this thread has drifted a little from BA’s original intent …

Thanks for all the kind replies, once again.

I did not put Apple Valley on the map. Not sure how to do that….

Yes, my awning is set with one arm lower in the photo, as it has gently rained the last two days, and water and debris seems to drain off better that way if there is any wind. I might be wrong, though…

Yes, I do keep the copper pipes polished, LOL! I am always afraid that Jon is going to hear from somebody who has run into us on the road!

Jon, you would be proud of me. I have maintained your old coach exactly as you always did, and we have had absolutely no trouble out if it, other than the usual expected items with the passage of time. We think of you and Di often, and still have nice memories of our trip to New Orleans with you guys. I am now semi-retired, working 24 weeks per year, so we have more time to travel of late. We have logged almost another 50K miles since you handed the reins over to us. My chasis mechanic tells me that we are due a couple of new airbags soon, but all the others are still excellent. However, I will probably just have them all replaced at one time, to stay with your recommended schedule of routine maintenance items.

We have met some wonderful folks here at Apple Valley, both Prevost and non-Prevost owners, and we aren’t looking forward to pulling out this Sunday morning. But, a big bluegrass festival is on the schedule next week in Missouri, so we must roll on down the road.

I will try to do a better job about posting here in the future. I am not very mechincally inclined, so I don’t often have much advice to pass to others on many of the threads here, but after owning a bus for 5 years, I probably have more general knowledge/experience to contribute than I give myself credit.

    Best regards to all!

I can’t wait for Harry to get the coach back to him so we can find out what the date codes are on the tires.

I agree in having them agree to replace your old ECM if the new one does not fix the problem. Most shops (heavy truck) have fallen to guesswork and hanging parts these days. It’s common for shops to keep a loaner ECM to ensure that the issue is a bad ECM. I certainly hope that’s your problem and you’re under way quickly!

    Jon,

Is there a way to disable EGR if it does not respond to the Ugly fix?

Harry, fuel polishing is a procedure where a device with a pump, filter(s) and a water separator is used to pull the fuel from your tank, pass it through the filters and separator and return it free of water and foreign matter like algae back to your tank. Marinas that have large boats powered by diesel engines almost always can polish fuel.

The problem you might have is your coach only has a one side fill. That means they might have to pump your tank through the filters and into an empty tank, and then pump from the tank back into your coach. When a two sided fill is available the removal and return at the same time keeps your tank contents stirred up and by running the polisher for a period of time it does a more complete job of removing even sediment that otherwise might remain on the tank bottom.

If your jello was what we call “algae” and you use additives that kill that material it tends to slough off the tank walls and rapidly plug your primary fuel filter. That is why we suggest if you cannot get the fuel polished with some means of pulling and returning fuel to the tank at the same time you prepare yourself to be capable of filling and changing fuel filters and priming the engine if needed when doing the filter swap.

If your coach has a Raycor filter as primary everything gets very easy and you can see visually if the filter is getting plugged. But if not I think the standard primary filters on the 8V92 are easy to access,

Using an algaecide and running your coach through a few tanks of fuel reasonably quick tends to cure the issues also, but you just have to plan on changing filters as you do that. The fact you just went 1100 miles which means a couple of tanks of fresh fuel have been added might indicate the problem is not severe so polishing might not be as important as just exercising the coach and replacing filters if there are signs of fuel starvation.

    Hi Dick,

No tow vehicle yet and as you know they are becoming fewer and fewer to come by. Ford seems to be the only company where most of their vehicles with automatic tranny can be towed 4 down. Chevy has some with the Malibu, Spark and Sonic. Then the list goes down fast from there. Jeep Cherokee 4 WD can be towed 4 down but requires a special switch to put it into absolute neutral but there are very few of them around.

    • As for the long groove my rear tire made its not repeated itself so I don’t know what went on there?

    • I really look forward to getting my bus to the point that I can get on over to Jeff’s. And I’d love to meet Buddy!

I sure want to get this stuff behind me and get on the road with a new TOAD without a heavy load. I hope this whole thing doesn’t come down to a simple matter of rotating the air in the tires? I’d hate that!

Is there a specific brand that’s best to “polish the fule” and where would I find it or would I order it onlone? I used the gen for around 2o hours, should that filter be checked?

How do you know it had anything to do with airing up prior to engine start?

If your coach accessory air was pressurtized before you were ready to start the engine by the time you waited for the warning lights to extinguish the belts would already have been tight because accessory air wouild have inflated the tensioning bellows.

But if you had no pressure the belts would have tightened as pressure built.

On a Marathon you have to keep the air path open between the chassis accessory air tank and the Marathon installed auxiliary air compressor and its tank. Then just turning on the key and waiting a few seconds before engaging the starter insures the belts are tightened.
