Rick and Denise were putting it on and there is a CG in Hermon, ME that will be the site.

When I last spoke to Rick he said lobster was cheap so we are bringing a big pot to bloil lobster and empty freezers. It is our intent to buy maybe 100# and pack tails and meat so we can enjoy lobstah for a couple of months.

Gary All you need to bring is lobster picks and crackers. We will have everything else, including fresh grown corn on the cob and Maine potatoes! Let me know 2 weeks before rally how lobsters you want. FYI the Maine lobster festivel was this weekend and they cooked 20,000 lbs of lobster! Rick

Rick, we want enough lobsters to fill our freezer. Seriously. The plan is to cook them, separate the tails, and take the meat from the rest. We will bag the meat in smaller quantities like a pound, and bag tails to reheat later unless you think we should just keep the tails raw. I have no idea how many the freezer will hold.

Jon Based on what you and Gary want I’ll get 200lbs. What others don’t buy we’ll freeze for ourselves.

Jon you should be good for a 100lbs at least. What you have to do is cook the lobster for 2 minutes,

than put in ice cold water to stop the cooking. After that you take the tails drain out the water and rap in a

brown paper you can get at Staples. You have to do this so the shell doesn’t cut the freezer bag when you

vacuum seal it. Do you have a vacuum sealer? A must so the meat will last longer in the freezer. Lobster is

good for 2 years if vacuum sealed. We have a vac sealer if you don’t. The rest of the meat can be

deshelled and bagged. I plan on buying the lobster on Friday the day of the rally. I needed to know how

much to buy so I can let the pound know. Rick

    Rick,

We don’t have a vacuum sealer but if you provide a link we will get one as well as the supplies. We often go to wholesalers when we are near the coast to buy fish or shrimp so we will always have use for one.

    We’ll get some brown paper.

Mr. Amazon has agreed to deliver my vacuum sealer and some bags in exchange for the use of my credit card so we are good to go.

Gotta get that protective paper now.

Lobster dock price yesterday was $2.50 a pound!! This may change some just like fuel prices do but I suspect not much if at all. Does anyone like mussels? I was thinking of getting some to steam up to go with our lobsters. I don’t plan to let anyone go home hungry. Rick

To the Maine lobster run folks. I got the big lobster pot down from storage along with the burner. I don’t know how big it is, maybe 25 gallon size. It has been so long since we used it I have to change the propane fitting to one that will mate up with the current standard fittings.

Available to all who need it.
