If I want something I try my hardest to satisfy my desire. Assuming I want something bad enough I will have the will power to find a way to get it.
But I also try to be reasonable. Over the years I have found a number of things that I just knew I had to have, but in the long run I couldn’t make it happen. It is at that point that I accept the fact I cannot have everything.
A Prevost conversion is an item that is clearly a ridiculous purchase. It is like a bicycle for a fish. I don’t need one. Certainly can’t justify one, but despite the fact I cannot show any practical reason for owning one, I still have one.
Now it will likely require a damn good reason before I would consider not having one. As of now the only acceptable reason for not owning a Prevost conversion is death (mine). So I will continue to own a Prevost. It is all about the lifestyle and the friends we have made over the years, the memories, and the sheer enjoyment of seeing the country from one.

Jeff & Sandy,
I’ve had 3 Rvs with Cummins Diesels (ISB,ISL,ISX) all used Def and of course the bigger the motor the more def/gas it consumed. Never had any problems with power or the system. (Lugging Def when it’s not at the pump is annoying)
We presently have an 09 Liberty with Detroit Series 60 and DPF. It burns the soot off using higher exhaust temps , generated with more fuel and pressure. It will normally Regen on the highway when you are at speed (~1500 rpm) for 40 minutes or so without any intervention. If it isn’t able to, you will get an alarm “Check Engine at Next Stop” and the Regen light will blink. If you don’t address it will go solid, if you still don’t address it will derate your motor and then finally shut you down to protect the motor. But it’s a fairly long time before it gets there, and you get more than adequate warning.(Def systems have a similar process until you refill). I did my first parked Regen the other day after I had idled for much longer than normal. (We drive over 25k per year in the coach) It’s a very simple process. Hit the brakes and the blue button on a warm motor and let it go. It will run the motor up to 1600 rpms for 20 -40 mins then drop it back to idle when it’s done. It felt like it ran better afterwards but that could have been related to all the junk food I ate while it regenerated.
If I recall correctly a Prevost wants the DPF filter to be replaced or cleaned at 400,000 miles. It’s the ash from the incineration that accumulates. I’m pretty sure I’ll never see that 400k milestone in this coach. I did see complaints of the system in the forums and I can see how truckers would not like it if they drove in conditions that would require parked regens regularly (low rpm inner city).I suspect a few pushed the limits on the warnings. I’m also sure it was a lot better without it.
i wouldn’t let it be a deciding factor unless your looking at a high mileage coach. 300K + miles.

The Waze hazard notifications still work when it is not navigating you somewhere.

I did see MS, but bought maybe you were open to different routes.
It’s Jon’s fault…

God job with your due diligence C’bus, it amazes me how so many people take the plunge for an XLII with no concern of delam, a potential 40K nightmare.

Art: Please share dimensions. What material did you use? What is length of the steps? Thanks!!

Bill… why would I stay with my family when we have a Prevost with our own bed and toilet and more. My 90 year old mother doesn’t understand either.
Good on most of your points except draining the auxiliary air bags. I haven’t a clue. Hopefully there may be something in the manuals. Or everyone feel free to jump in with directions. We’re leaving early in the morning.
Thank you everyone.

There is nothing as easy to interpret as a gauge with a needle. A glance tells you the needle is in a different or the same position as the last time you looked at it.
Reading numbers is OK, but nowhere near as easy to see a trend or movement unless you focus completely on the numbers as they go up or down. Not good when you should be watching the road and your instrument scan needs to take place in seconds so you are alert to what is happening on the highway.

Jon,
I’m new to all of this, so I don’t know how to find your email address. Mine is tngardner@yahoo.com.
I believe I may have found storage with full time 110. I guess that’s better than the 8 hours a day.
Thanks, John

Ron,
It should contain wire mess screens ? Snap a couple of pics of inside.
There are stories of owners removing filters when they think air flow will increase.

Be careful those aluminum hockey tanks might start leaking
