I-75 in Georgia, MM82
If you ever drive I-75 through Georgia, especially near Exit 82 watch your speed. When we have stayed in the campground at Carroll’s Meat and Sausage (yes a butcher shop with an RV park) the entertainment is watching the blue lights. The state, county and local cops are writing tickets constantly.
I went down through there yesterday and within a 20 mile stretch I saw no less than about 10 cops, more than half writing tickets.

Even though I have the Garmin RV-770 GPS, I really like to have Waze running (as a backup) on my smart phone for traffic information.
Getting notification of road hazards, traffic, and enforcement activity is a significant safety feature.
When Waze tells me that there is an obstacle in the road ahead, I watch carefully and prepare to take evasive action should something be in my lane ahead. Running over a shredded tire or box in the road is not fun when advance warning could have allowed me to avoid it.
Knowing that traffic is backed up ahead prevents me from topping a hill at speed, only to find cars at a standstill.
I do not knowingly speed but being notified of Police activity makes me aware that speeders around me might suddenly slow and change lanes.
Waze is a smart phone app you might want to consider. It is the modern day equivalent of the CB radio, just without the mindless chatter.

Bad thing about Waze in the Bus, It will take you places you don’t want to go in a big vehicle, it doesn’t know, We have used Waze for a few years in the car it will direct you around traffic side streets.

We use the Garmin for directions (in addition to pre-flying the next day’s trip on Google Maps).
You are right about Waze being a car directions GPS not a big rig one.

The Waze hazard notifications still work when it is not navigating you somewhere.

I’m a Waze user as well, but pay no attention to any rerouting or directions.
Les – As to the CB mindless chatter, I disagree and have been using a CB since it’s inception into trucking in the early 70’s when we actually had a license. Back then in the pay phone days it was almost a necessity, today the cell phones and apps like Waze have certainly changed the CB traffic to almost nothing in parts of the country. Just try to get a radio check these days, crickets…..
I’ll grant you the language and nastiness is still out there, but the instant information you can get on 19 for hazards, traffic, accidents, weather, etc. is priceless. Remember, many public safety services still monitor the emergency channel 9.

We use a program called ” INRIX” for hazard navigation as have found it more accurate than Waze but use Garmin RV for GPS navigation…

I keep the CB on all the time and occasionally there will be some chatter. The few times that I have had a question about traffic on our a route, I’ve received a info back.

I also try to preview upcoming routes in google maps or earth. But I have not found a way the “fly” the route, despite trying to find a way to do so. All I’ve come up with is using Street View to look at specific intersections, etc. Perhaps use arrow keys to move a few hundred feet along the road.
If you’ve got a better way I’d love to hear it.

Jon, I saw the same type of law enforcement action in that part of GA. on the way home from Lakeland. I thought that I was already back in Ohio. Just the patrol cars were’t silver.

Ohio deters speeders by parking their white state police cars in the median about every ten miles.
In Georgia around exit 82 they are not so much visible as they are active. I just stayed in the middle lane because there were blue lights on the right shoulder as well as up against the concrete median.
Bubba in his Dodge cop car is a money source that likely supports the expense of the entire local government.

No since in speeding around Exit 82. Jump off the interstate and go in to Carrolls.
