The old buzzard from Knoxville will be there, I sent him a message via IM. Do you really think he got it?

The rose petals mask the odor of corroding aluminum.
The noise you hear in the background is Bernie laughing his ass off.

As you know, nothing breaks down at home in the bus barn.
It is possible to have one go bad before the five year mark which could lead to damage to some of the others.

Most anything is possible I would say…. But a better question might be is it a good idea and is it cost effective? If you are serious about this I would Call Marathon directly in OR talk to someone in service. Give them the coach number you are looking at and what you want to do. It won’t be your cheapest option but if they tell you they can do it… they can and it will work. I have a 2007 H3 Marathon and I turned the closet space I think you are referencing into an office space for me as we travel. But adding plumbing in that area might be problematic given the proximity to the engine as well as the existing engine access etc.
Good luck on your search.

Bill, if you think I am talking down to you, as I said i am confused. You indicated you set the parking brake but continued to hear a leak. I posted what I did to help folks here understand how our brakes work and how to help understand leak origins.
What confuses me is you said the leak was a brake chamber, but if the parking brake is set and you are not applying the service brake there is zero pressure downstream from the relay valve and any likely leak at that point is from the relay valve back to the compressor.
Tell me how that explanation is talking down to you. One thing Tom and I always worked hard to do with the forum was clarify posts, correct errors, and try to give folks a better understanding of their coach. Is that wrong?????????

We had the coach towed to Prevost Ft. Worth. Just really happy that if it had to happen, it happened here!

Annual Emissions test for licensing, Ugh. Ever see an XLV on a “dyno?”
Dick Karth, i found a deal for our emissions test. Only $85.00. Heavy duty truck and bus testing centers in Colorado are allowed to charge up to their hourly rate. Another place i checked wanted $180 for dyno test

Well I am feeling dumb. That’s an easy fix.

Every H i drove in the mountains in a big wind was top heavy compared to and XL. Higher platform, makes sense why.
Prevost quit the XLII because it wanted 2 chassis not 3 to mfg. The largest buyer were entertainers on the X3 chassis.
George comes out about 5’4”. In a H it don’t matter. I get in an H and feel claustrophobic. The extra step up to get on the main floor is not for us and the uneven passenger seat or (birdcage seat) is for a tour guide.
You will get strong feelings on both. Like George said you gotta get in them.

“It just takes once starting with a full load to cause damage. “
I read through this thread last week and this line stayed in my mind and bounced off the walls a few days. I do not have the mechanical know-how to question the statement above nor do I desire to refute it. I do have an honest question.
It is my understanding that most buses have inverter circuits and the ACs and other big power consumers are generally not on those circuits. IF the shore power kicks off for some reason, the big power draws also kick off and you are alerted to the power situation by that.
On my Vantare, everything runs through the inverters. When the shore power kicks off, everything keeps running by design and the generator comes on in a few minutes. We have had this happen 3-4 times in 13 1/2 years. We had no clue the shore power was off until the generator started.
Would Vantare/Featherlite and a few other converters design and build their systems this way even if it will cause damage to the generator?
This is their design and there is no way to work around it. I would love for my ACs to go off with the power. When I am parked inside the barn, I turn off the auto start on the generator, but if the shore power kicks while I am gone, the ACs will go right on running until the batteries get to a certain point. I can only hope they shut down before the batteries are ruined.

Al: would this also apply to a 1999 XL?

I have to wonder how Auto Gen Start works with ensuring proper startup of appliances.

Little different scenario but my #2 inverter does that when on battery power and using microwave.

Hello,
You can not always say a generator should last 10K 20K or 30K hours. A generator only lasts as long as it is maintained. The death of a generator is how it is treated.
The worst thing that can happen is starting a generator with a full load. Always make sure no AC or heavy use things in coach are on at the time. Stovetop, Microwave…
Power everything down, start generator after a 15 second or so warmup period. Let generator get to speed. 2 minutes of so of running, then add loads one at a time.
Thanks
