NICE one Dick and Cathie, you’re livin life fun. It’s fitting with these buses that we should meet 650 miles away when we live only 100 miles apart.

Yes, this is one of the jobs you better do yourself if you do not want your transmission pan threads stripped.
Another one is oil filter change on the 3.6l Jeep engines which many of us have in our toads. The oil filter is integral with the oil cooler housing and made out of plastic. The oil filter housing is cantilevered off the cooler between the two heads. It takes very little to crack the oil filter/cooler housing if one is not careful when tightening the oil filter cap. Common issue.

What are you expecting to get in an upgraded coach in five years that you won’t have in the coach you buy right now.

Ameristar Casino has R V park one block off I-20.

Interesting. Oregon has no special requirements to drive RVs of any kind including Prevosts. My understanding is that the home state rules apply regardless where you drive in the US. Isn’t that correct?

So Andy, When you say “I also keep a fan running in the coach. Here’s a small oscillating fan that works well in a bus:. Would it be safe to say it’s one of your many fans!

My last 2 coaches I have used the Trik-L-Start on them, Foretravel when you were plugged in the Chassis batteries did not charge so when I started engine after sitting for a while it sounded slugish after installing the DC charger it fired up great, when I sold it chassis batteries tested great after almost 8 years, The Prevost sitting a lot of the time gen sounded slugish and now plugged in gen battery sits at around 13.4 volts and cranks great. In the winter the batteries don’t like the cold. Also the Trik-L-Start is a no brainer when you un plug your coach it disconnects its self .

Art, I do not have much experience on the failure modes of our generators so I was going by how much bang for your buck you will get in terms of protection and that is probably where Progressive’s written recommendation stems from. I have the external version so I don’t have protection from the generator either but if I was going with a fixed version I may still put after the transfer box depending on how close it was connected to the transfer box. You are trading some over voltage surge protection for the transfer box vs all of the other protections that it offers should the generator go bad. Note that I said trading “some” surge protection because you will still have some surge protection if the protection is after the transfer box and the closer (short wires) it is to the transfer box the better.
You would still be susceptible to a persistent over voltage condition even if the protection activates should that occur and that may be a good enough reason to put it ahead of the transfer box.
The manufacturer should really change their published recommendations if they are telling customers something different and an explanation would be welcome as well.
Has anyone experinced or heard of house electrical component failures due to a generator malfunction?
Good luck.

Tim,
You might try Ben Cummings at USA Luxury Coach (B) 727 812-0721 or (Cell) 813 830-8619. He is in St. Pete at the old Parliament location.
I would be careful at the location shown by Truk. It has been known that non slide Marathons have had newly replaced parts come up missing or changed out. Oh, Tom just told me his coach is now zeroed out so it may be safe for a month or two.

There are a few 5th wheelers that are better then most but if you are going to switch? If you are going to buy used the best one I’ve seen is a company called Carriage that is out of business now but they are built pretty well, If you buy new the list is short Grand Design makes a couple of models, Mobile Suites makes good trailers but pricey.

Normally they are wired between the campground power and the transfer switch. 99.9% of the time, that is where the problem comes from.

Maybe at one time before extended life OAT technology coolant came into existence, but now Detroit recognizes OAT technology as a suitable coolant.

What a change. Nice job.
