How well is our bus insulated?
I don’t know the answer to that question but I sure know about mine…
At the park where my bus is parked I’m hooked up to 50 amp power. I went to take my bus on a run today and found the power on my space and five others has been out all week. Most of the week our temperatures got down to the mid to low 20’s (40 t0 45 during the day)
I wasn’t terribly concerned when I found out because I have Blustream temperature sensors in the kitchen and wet bay and they didn’t send a low temperature alert. I set the alert for 36 and both sensors registered nothing lower than 42. I don’t know about you but that seems really great to me!
Before I move along I want to give a shout out to Andy Pargh of Gadget Guru (and Lucy the Dog) fame for giving me a heads up on Blustream. It’s about time Andy said something worthwhile.
I often sit back in frank amazement at my 91 Beaver Bus! It’s built like a battleship, looks terrific and runs like a Canadian Werewolf in full flight. And yes, I am looking into placing two gun emplacements on the roof. Jeff tells me he’ll need a week!
And it seems no matter where the bus sits she’s the bell of the ball and everyone wants to see the Prevost! I didn’t buy it for that purpose but it’s a nice perk isn’t it? I’m delighted to say that I’ve been delighted by many things in my life, Jon and Tom not withstanding. And my Prevost Bus sits right there amongst em! To all of you who helped in my decision making process you have my thanks… No money, but my thanks!

I know everybody can’t have a barn close but these puppies/coaches are expensive and the first thing I did after I bought mine was build a barn on the 100 acre place to store it. Wife wanted to move closer to Granddaughter last year and had to sell the ranchito (tired of punching cows anyway) and buy another place (10 acres almost downtown Kingsland Tx.) and the first thing I did was build another insulated barn and they’re just finishing the house in front of barn. Had mine in storage for 2 months in transition and all they had was 110 volt service and it sucked. If you have a coach it’s better to keep it safe and where you can put your hands on it pronto.

Now Glens, I like you a lot but I’m telling you for the last time I’m not movin down to Kingsland, Texas just to use your barn!
I am looking at a place in Florida on 8 acres (I know you have 10 you big show off) with a nice home, not far from the gulf where I can build a bus barn. Please let me know the size of your barn so I can build mine bigger. I know all about how big things are in TEXAS, I use to live there!
But to the point, 42 degrees ain’t bad Mr. Glad!

Harry built mine 40’x60′ with 14’x 14′ doors in front and back so you can drive right through. Just using one bay so if you want to use the other, Come on Down.

Hi Andy, Yes I personally believe that technology and a Prevost Bus can coexist in the same space. But please know that I have an 8 x 10 glossy of a Motorola Flip Phone hanging next to the sensor.
By th way, I have it on good authority the Apple Watch tapping on your wrist has nothing to do with tire pressure. It’s telling you your checking account dipped below a million six.
Hey Glens, A drive through barn you say? Now that is very cool and is something I’d not have thought of. Great size too, if you’ve got the space why not?

Harry, Cole Custom Coach’s out of Wyoming. They were only in business a short while back in the early/mid 90.s. The cabinet shop is still a cranking I hear with the kids running it. Beautiful Aspen wood work in mine. Still have the original paperwork including the sticker from Man I bought mine off of. He died and bought off wife. My company did work for his and seen coach when it was brand new when he drove it over to my yard when he picked it up and drove it down. He bought bus from Prevost and drove it down to there shop for conversion. Have all the info and build sheets including tank diagrams and electrical wiring schematics. Just don’t know what I’m looking at.

I winter in Arizona have my home in Green Bay, Wisconsin, (10 blocks north of Lambeau Field). I worry all the time about the furnace going out in January when no one is around. Does the Blustream work from 2,000 miles away and help me sleep better at night?

Any of the new Wifi thermostats will notify you about extreme temps and allow you to control the thermostat via your cell phone. Check out Honeywell Lyric T5 for an example

Hi Glens, Cole Custom Coach out of Wyoming, wow. I wonder how many bus converters are no longer around? I believe the Beaver bus lasted three to four years, just long enough for a good reputation.

Hi Michael, As long as you have wifi where the bus is parked you can use a bridge, like a cell phone (with no service provided needed) to connect through Bluetooth. Then you can read the sensors anyplace you have cell service.
BTW it also handles humidity and if the bus has been hit or disburbed in any way.

Hey Harry, before you sign the papers have the seller perform a geological survey of the property. Florida is covered with potential sink hole sights resulting from the dissolving Limestone beneath the sand. Water percolates down through and to the Limestone and dissolves it gradually.
Remember the Corvette Museum in Kentucky? Same geology as Florida. I don’t know how difficult it was to recover the dumped Corvettes but I’m certain they weigh substantially less than a Prevost bus.

Would I be correct in assuming the gee whiz technology that allows you to set the thermostat and flush the toilet from the smart phone, that when there is a malfunct and the heat ain’t heating that the smart phone also goes to the coach 2000 miles away and fixes the problem?
