Ron Im going to speak from a trans retarder position. First of all,I allways have it turned on.

When you apply the brakes the retarder automaticly applies without any joy stick partisipation.

The joy stick will controll the retarder at lift throttle from no retard to full retard through its quadrants

This retarder directs trans fluid in an oppisate direction through a turbine thats connected to the output

shaft of the trans hence slowing the vehicle. However this creates high temps in the trans,so I pay verry

close attention to my trans temp,it can reach 300+ in a hurry with full retard. So here is the the way

I negotiate the steep grades,Stay off the brakes as much as possible, and when you use them dont feather them

use them with resolve to bring it back to the speed your comfortable with. The speed Im comfortable with is

selecting the correct gear and the right amount of joy stick retard controll to keep trans temps under 280 and not

apply the brakes. Our brakes are our last defense so keep them cool.As far as uphill I let allison do its job

momentum is key,its the people jumping in your passing lane when its time to pass,I try to time passing

even if it means jumping in that lane early. They can KMA. And if you dont have sweaty palms your my hero.

Hi Everyone, thank you all for the replies and sorry for the delayed response. I don’t always see reply buttons on the forum even though logged in. They appeared today so I get to respond…

Yes, the bus leaks from the gas tank while running. But it basically stops leaking once it drains off to whatever level it is now (I can’t tell, the fuel gauge doesn’t work). I ended up not towing the coach but decided that it had actually been leaking for my entire journey home from TN after filling up. It explains the black spots all over the back of the coach.

I already had an appointment at the Prevost center in NJ for this Friday. I will take the bus to them on Friday to be sorted out.

P.S. Another website oddity, I don’t see my signature showing up yet I set one in my profile.

    Gerard,

    You’re
on the right track with Tom’s bus and thanks for the PC plug. We
think our Coach for Sale Ad’s are the best out there for the money
and Jon and I are able to see the big picture that show results. I
sold my Liberty on PC in several days and there are others out there
with the same success. We appreciate Tom’s support and we’re working
hard to help him out. When age and health force a life style change,
I think the folks here on PC are at their best.

    You
won’t find a better 94 Liberty, period. I purchased this bus from a
friend, Brian E, who owned it many years and he was as meticulous as
you get with impeccable service and maintenance records. I kept the
trend going while I owned the bus and continued to document every
repair and update. Tom has done the same thing as you can see in his
Ad. You will be able to see every detail outlined in the maintenance
logs from Brian, myself and Tom going back to probably around 2005. I
purchased it in 2008 from Brian.

    Nothing
better then the sound of the 8V92….

    Peter,

Ditto that… you helped us way more than we could have ever helped you… continued safe travels… hope to cross paths again soon. I’m at Jeff’s getting a bunch of PM done. He had me up on the rack yesterday and said everything looks pretty good…

    Take care

Mine will be on the top side of the red mark at low idle when hot, whatever psi that is. A friend of mine with an ’03 chassis, has a smaller red mark on his guage, so at idle, it’s not on the edge of the red like mine is. Looks better anyway

I remember the Prevost guys at the Tampa rally saying that there are “Fudge factors” built into the guages.

the picture is of a panel in the bedroom .Im guessing these are relays but dont have any wiring diagrams to explain them. Anyway ,i have looked everywhere for a bad fuse or breaker blown with no luck but i noticed a red light on on the right side of the top row of relays. Wondering if this could have something to do with the gen no start problem. as I said the genny does start from the electronics box on the genny but none of the remote switches seem to work. sorry to bother everyone on fathers day. so happy fathers day. Im gonna go gamble away some money . It may make me feel better about this.

Another strange thing, the cabinet doors and drawers have the exact
style laminate, of the same color and the same style wood trim as my
    1988 Angola.

May 8, 2014 at 9:19 pm in reply to: Chassis voltage

    Thanks all for your
responses, what I am reading is the battery voltage on the chassis, currently
the batteries are fully charged at 12.7 volt looking at the each battery. When
the engine starts the voltage goes up to 13.5 and maybe 13.6. According to Leon
at Marathon the is OK, since the batteries are full the alternator voltage
regular goes in float charge, when additional load is put on the system i.e.
head light and other the voltage regulator will increase the voltage to keep
    the batteries up.

    Al Thank you for talking
to me this afternoon, looking forward to meet you one day at a rally.

    The engine chassis
alternator have self contained voltage regulator, there is no external voltage
    regulator for the chassis.

    Paul,

We purchased our Coach from SW Luxury… we had both inside and outside PDI done by Taylor Tours in PHX as that is where our Bus was located. The people at Marathon Tampa and SW Luxury are good people.

As far as where best to go for the PDI… I would say Prevost for the Chassis and Marathon for the house stuff if you really wanted to know where things stood.

In our case I was lucky that the guys that did my PDI in Phoenix were able to do both as their Lead Tech was a former Marathon employee.

Please email or call me if there is anything else I can help with.

    Good Luck!

Gil,The reason for 4 Outback 3500 watt inverters is to power the 4 roof airs while traveling down the road,I think there are 3 alternators around 200 amps at 24 volts to power the inverters,I was told that the alternators with fully charged batteries would run all 4 AC units for about 10 hours.CONGRATS Mr Mark on your selection of the best coach manufacturer!!!

Replace as in use a different toilet model, or just replace the Headhunter with another Headhunter?

The way my Headhunter is set up the supply is via a flush valve in the bay, to the toilet, and the waste line is a horizontal run to the holding tank. I would think all of that has to come into the equation to make sure a different toilet will get the proper water supply, plus carry the waste.
