Thanks, that makes sense. I think my current setup has check valves on both sides. I did read that is bad if the pressure valve fails so a 2nd tank is installed.

Plan to just install one on the hot side and one 5gal pressure tank on the cold side.

My thought the Royale House batteries are only charged by the 12v DN50, From DN50 there is a 4/0 cable from rear to DN50 to 2nd compartment back on passenger side where the four LifePo4 batteries are and one 12v gell battery for gen, It’s only way to charge is when it’s running and a small 120v trickle charger when parked, It does have a momentary boost button, The 4/0 cable from DN50 goes to battery compartment and then tied to Li batteries, Why can’t I rewire 4/0 cable to gen battery (Optima) DN50 likes Optima them from Gen to input side of 60 amp DC to DC charger them output side of charger to LifePO4 batteries,So driving down the road the gen battery is charging and LifePO4 batteries are charging,That should work??? If I sacrifice one of the LifePO4 batteries the DN50 won’t like that either, them it is no different then I have now but less one 280 amp hour batteries. If I use the gen battery for the DC to DC charger the DN50 won’t be a problem.??

Jerry, thanks for the post. I was thinking along the same lines. In my distribution box (where the two 2/0 cables from the alternator terminate) there is also a “Gen boost” cable that runs over to help the generator lead-acid battery. I was thinking of connecting the input side of the DC-DC to that so the 50DN sees 12V. Think that will do the trick?

    Thank you Jon.

That’s why we did it last time per your advice and we fortunately haven’t had any major troubles except one airbag that Prevost Nashville spotted on a DMI.

We’ll just start the process of getting it scheduled.

Thanks again Jon and have a good weekend,

    Chris

Art, first off it is not recommended to keep your Batteries always in a Bulk or absorption state. I understand always wanting to see 100% on your SOC meter, but that is not the whole story. The Victron DC to DC charger I have is configurable based on what you want to do with your system.

When we 1st bought bus 8 years ago it leaned to right side driving the compressor cycled every few minutes could see it in Aux gauge, 100 to 120 psi over and over, So replaced all new bags – norgren valves- level valves- governor – air dryer and a few more things, At this point driving all gauges did not move, Parked there was no movement, after a week the aux gauge would be down 10 lbs FINE! In the winter I noticed more leak down, I chased leaks that I could not find, I drove myself nuts, Last couple of years I said driving down the road Aux gauge does not go down unless I brake so compressor is not cycling FINE! Parked in winter it looses some air so I’ve learned to live with it I did a few years ago install some isolation valves in steer compartment Air horn- foot well slide-air seat and got rid of red handled knob in rear for belt air bags because it leaked so bad and a new valve was $250, If I need to deflate bags I shut off 1/4 inch ball valve I installed and push schrader valve, works just fine, There is a check by regulator I replaced so belts never get loose.

Raritan makes a great Marine Water heater all sizes, Install a few in my past RV repair days, Cases are all this durable plastic no rust and on tom a large bolt hole for support, A bit pricey but a good product.

    Per Wikipedia

Global Positioning System (GPS), originally Navstar GPS, is a satellite-based radio navigation system owned by the United States government and operated by the United States Space Force.

“GPS” and “satellite-based radio navigation system” in the same sentence.

It should be illegal for vendors to call anything that isn’t “satellite based” a GPS system. Many people who use cellphone based navigation systems have NO IDEA that their ability to navigate is based largely on the ability to get a cell signal. No cell signal … likely no navigation.

Some, but not all, Apple iPads and such have a true satellite-based GPS receiver either built into them or that can be plugged into the devices which then allow them to function as a true GPS system.

Its important to know the difference.
