My batteries showed up yesterday, ordered on Monday, Came from LA area, Set up the blue tooth on them each say volts 13.2 to 13.4 all say 50 to 54 percent shows each battery with serial #s

After reading the manual it says to charge each battery to full charge with correct charger for Lithium? I have a NocoGenius 15amp charger that I’ve had for a long time and it has a Lithium setting so I started charging 1st battery, On the blue tooth battery started at 50 percent at 13.3V and it says it is charging, After a couple of hours it went but not very fast at all! Manual says charge all batteries fully and them connect all batteries to balance them out before use. Reading manual I need a Charger with at least 10 percent of Amp hour rating 28amps, So I bought a 40 amp charger that charges at 14.6v, So when it shows up I will try it again.I didn’t know about charging all the batteries 1st then balance 1st before install, Then I will have to change settings on Victron 712 BMV and the 2 Magnum Inverters after I install them, Batteries weigh 59 Lb’sapiece, Lifelines have been awesome for 9 or 10 years of use Not Bad

Art, use your inverters to charge them. They are just recommending the batteries reach a full charge before you start loading them.
-
I read to charge separately to full then install and let them balance for 24 hours before use?? Is that over kill? I’ve heard from a couple other people the same about charging separately then balance before use, I still old school.
-
IMO that’s overkill. if you follow this path, It is going to take you 2 months to get them installed. If you are set on charging them individually you can still use your inverters to charge them one set at a time, then hook them in parallel.

Art, Here is my plan when i switch to Lithium:
1) Pull out the old batteries
2) Clean up the battery bay, repaint, get rid of rust etc.
3) Put the new batteries in place to see what is needed for blocking since they are smaller
4) Block batteries in place
5) Figure out cable lengths and routing, order if needed
6) Wire up all 4 batteries, switch them all off
7) Turn inverter chargers on
8) Turn on one battery at a time, add it in the app, verify status, charge to 100%
9) Repeat this process for all 4 batteries.
After this, i need to see how things go.

Battery compartment is pretty clean no rust not bad, I drew a schematic of battery wiring, Today I’m turning off AC power turning off DC power, removing 4 AGM Lifeline batteries, It has a tough rubber floor that I have painted blocks screwed through rubber into floor that I will adjust for slightly smaller batteries, I want to get batteries positioned and re blocked to floor today, Next step check out cables, Then stop for the day it’s Sunday, I’ve talked to Don Beard and Jonthan Fine about resetting the MS2812 Magnum’s for Lithium and reset Victron 712 BMV

Art, that picture from the book can all be done in the bus with the batteries connected to your system. I have a disconnect for each battery, so i can bring them online one at a time. Geat job so far! You will be glad you switched, once you get up and running.
-
Step #1 Old batteries out Damn they are heavy, Had them out before but they seem heaver, or I’m older, New batteries all in and blocked in place
-
OK Art, getting close! depending on how you connect all your batteries together, there have been some that complain online about the screws that come with the batteries. You might need to get a longer screw of you are tying batteries together with more than 1 cable.

You need provision for heating or retaining heat if they are self heating.
Or a plan to never charge them above the specified amount of they are below 30F.
Also, the are not acceptable for series parallel cabling so I presume yu have a straight 12V coach?
-
House, Yes 12v only The only 24v is some things on engine, It can get cold here mid 30’s once in a while, If they get to cold or hot they will shut off, No built in heaters, Hauled off those old Lifelines felt good,Damn their heavy. Watched a few sail boat video’s and they were mostly using Li Time and had good things to say about them, One of our Prevost guys are using them also. Time will tell
-
Jon, the batteries Art has have a BMS with low temp cutoff which is like 30 degrees. He will be fine living and traveling around the west coast. I disagree with your statement regarding series parallel connections. Lithium can be wired just like AGM and lead acid.
-
You made a good choice Art, i will be installing these batteries soon.
-
If Lithium batteries are wired in series they must have a common BMS. These batteries appear to have built in BMS and no provision to connect them to each other in series. Without a 24 volt BMS for each set you are risking some not so good possibilities.
