Really a great thread about this axle repair operation. Takes time to put this together, text and pictures.
Comparing parts as seal mfg. goes was interesting to me rather then rate everything by “how much it cost” was another important comparison.

We use a “hook & loop” ie Velcro strip, often used to secure bundles of data cables. We use the strip around the handles of our side-by-side. Low tech, high utility, good results. Look for them at your local hardware store

We carry “auto sock “ in the bus. They are C-Dot ( Colorado) approved. They don5 take up much space

If I go further with this purchase I would want a fresh test. .I think the existing one is a few years old. I am a businessman retired. I am getting a bad feeling. The unit might be ok but there are too many people involved in the sale. I usually follow my gut feeling. A fellow BBluebird owner lives in Greenville and he is going to look over the unit.

I have good and bad news.
The good;
The 2001 Liberty H-345 that we have for sale at Jeff’s has the Liberty Watchdog disabled and the Magnum autostart installed and it does work.
The bad:
It was installed by Ben Cummins before we took delivery of the coach. Ben is no longer with us, and is greatly missed. Ben did tell me it was a lot of work to get the watchdog removed and changes to the wiring had to be made on the generator to get the Magnum autostart to work.
I do not have any details on the specific changes that where made.
It can be done.

Yes, please share all you can. I have decided on a Roadmaster Nighthawk (8000 lbs).
I was going to order myself, but decided to have it installed by J and I hitch in OKC.
I believe my Escaladed is 5200 to 5800 lbs and may have 500 lbs in the car of misc items.
I am planning on weighing it this week to be exact.
Do you think the 8000 llb unit is adequate?

When a part is no longer available we have two choices. Abandon the mechanism, in this case close and seal the window forever, or get the part made.
That part is apparently brass but it could be steel or aluminum and it would work just the same. Find a local small machine shop and ask them to make it for you. Whatever the cost I am sure it would be less than having Prevost remake the part.
Finding one it a junk yard for buses would likely be similar in difficulty to finding an honest politician because the number of seated coaches which do not have our type windows is very large compared to conversion and few conversions using that part are worn out. Maybe you can find one that burned or was in a serious wreck, but I bet it would be quicker, cheaper and easier to just make one.
If you are patient, and have a few simple tools you could probably make one yourself.

Jon, just to clarify, Cadet is not removing the temp limit switch on their new models. They have changed its location and are using a different manufacture/style

I don’t have a Wrangler, but are you in Park when you shift? That uses the driveline to hold the vehicle stationary, putting torque through the T-Case. Try neutral with either the footbrake or parking brake applied.
