Unexpected trip to ETLC
We are in Florida, our 3 year old Samsung Refrigerator quit cooling. We talked to a respected Florida service provider about replacing the refrigerator. We would have had them do it , but they were running 3-4 weeks out. It’s their busy season. Talked to Jeff Rowe at East Tennessee Luxury Coach, he said he could change it when we got there. Ordered a new GE refrigerator for delivery to ETLC. It only took Jeff and crew 6 hours to make the swap. Great job guys! We really appreciate Jeff and crew. I believe the Samsung failed because it was installed with insufficient air flow. However, neither service provider seems to be fond of Samsung, just in the for what it’s worth column.
Ordered and installed the “Fridge Fixer” door lock. Works good, I can recommend it.

Roy, You and Jeff may already have confirmed this, but verify you have pure sine wave inverters. Some new electronics, especially refrigerators will not do well on modified sine wave inverter power.

Buyer beware of Frigidaire refrigerators
When I arrived to pick my coach up after having service work done at ETLC, I discovered the original Amana refrigerator had finally quite working. Jeff was already finished working on my coach but made time to install a new fridge for us. I was short on time so I purchased the first fridge I could find that would fit (Frigidaire model LFHD2251TF4). Jeff’s team did a great job getting the old one out and the new one in.
In just a short period of use I noticed the fridge ran almost all the time. Upon a Google search I quickly found out that the Frigidaire refrigerators (specifically my model) had numerous consumer complaints about fridge running constantly and not cooling well. Supposedly the compressor running is due to new multi stage compressors. Consumers also complained about poor insulation.
What I can tell you is: fridge went from 36 deg to 60 deg with in 10 hours of being turned off when the coach was inside a garage with 65 deg air temp & compressor runs almost all the time and defiantly draws hard on the battery’s when dry camping. Guess I will learn to live with it, to much $ to change at this point.

It is very difficult to buy a good fridge
The good ones stopped around 2004. There are only a few mfrs. Some make units under 4 or 5 different names and they are all the same junk. Samsung is bad and lg is worse. Frigidaire are also bad. Some rv owners throw away the samsung and buy ge. The whirlpool units seem to be slightly better. Whirlpool also makes jenn air maytag kitchen aid and a few others. What do Marathon and Liberty install in new units?

I too am dealing with a Samsung that is no longer working correctly.
What is a “dependable” brand for RVing. One service man stated the compressors do not take the travel well. Would like to hear what brand is best.
Also wondering if the R&R is any more difficult in a 1999XL, than in a XLII? I am thinking the smaller windshield might make removing the copilot seat, necessary?

With the doors off, the fridge will go through the windshield with no problem and not require the seat removal.

I replaced our Whirlpool refer last year and the old one still worked but door hinges were bad so we replaced it with the same Whirlpool model and it’s funny you said about Samsung the people at Lowes said they try to avoid Samsung because they have had so many problems with Samsung products and tough to deal with.
