Toe kick heater
Heater element turns on but fan does not. Removed wire from over temp limit switch for fan (see attached picture) and now fan runs all the time and heater element turns off and on as it should.
Cadet service tells me they have changed their systems and no longer use the over temp limit switch used on my older model, Cadet service suggest replacing the unit.
Not looking to replace an entire unit because of one small limit switch, Anybody know where to access/purchase one of the over temp limit switch?
Would leaving the wiring as is and letting the fan run continuously while the heating element cuts off and on be a problem if I can’t find a replacement limit switch?

Chuck, the limit switch looks just like those on electric clothes dryers. A good appliance repair shop should be able to match it

If the factory does not use a limit switch, just by pass it.
I will admit I am not comfortable with that, but if that is how they now do it I guess it is OK. I assume you ohmed everything out and that is the problem?

If the voltages are the same, tie the fan switch into the wires from the heat element switch.
The amperage from the fan should be very minimal and then it would come off and on with the heating element.
Like above, take the limit switch to an appliance parts store and they could match it up.
All the do is break continuity.

Jon, just to clarify, Cadet is not removing the temp limit switch on their new models. They have changed its location and are using a different manufacture/style

OK, then do not by=pass it, but find an alternative limit switch.
The purpose of a limit switch is if the fan should fail or if something blocks air flow through the heater, the switch will open the circuit to the heating element. Some heaters have a thermal link that will fail to an open circuit and will require replacement before the heater will function again. I have to believe whatever type you have that parts are available.

Chuck: I replaced mine on our 99 Liberty when I started looking for a missing knob, talked to Cadet, was told my model had been recalled, but I was outside the free replacement window … I bought the current model for IIRC less than $150 and pitched the 20 y/o device.

Cadet gave me their old currently non existent part # 100750.
Found the part on several web sites for $830 – Cadet has a new replacement unit for $1990 or a factory rebuilt one for $1390.
The factory rebuilt is looking pretty good considering the cost of the individual part.

I think I used this one, resetable and 170 degree. I think the ones in the cadet are one time blow and replace. Disclaimer – check out the specs and be sure it will work for you.
