There is a 96 Royal on RVT that looks pretty nice in Alabama. It has heated bays and it looks like it’s been maintained and lots of updates, 147 K miles, interior I could live with and a 60 sieres engine which I really like. No mention of the tank sizes but all new batteries. If a coach has fresh water plastic tanks, I would like to change them out for stainless steel and I wonder if that creates any issues especially in colder temps? What else should be on my check list for a cold temp coach ? This may sound crazy but I would like to have a wood stove in it. I have only seen one coach with a wood pellet stove.
Did this vintage come standard with the solid front axel ?

Jeff or the other non-Prevost service folks can amend my guess, but with conventional brake chambers the front will be a single and I would expect a $35 to $45 price. The drive is likely to be a combo, probably a 30-36 and I used to pay in the $110 range, now likely a little higher. The rear combo is a non-stocked size if I recall so I made it up with a single brake chamber and what is called a piggy back with the emergency brake the correct size and the front sized to accept parts from the single I bought for parts. By the time i got done I think I had about $130 tied up in the tag axle combo. I think the tag combo was a 16-24 and when I needed them nobody stocked them. Prevost was in the $300 price range for those and almost $400 for the drive at the time.
I did have to cut the push rods to length on all brake chambers I bought. I got them at Fleet Pride and Truck Pro.
I’m guessing just the time to remove and replace brake chambers was in the range of about 5 to 6 hours. Some of the time was spent polishing slack adjusters.

My Liberty came with a nice stainless Kenyon grill. It appeared to have been used one time, maybe. I pulled it out as it is heavy and we use a portable gas grill and stand so we can cook away from the bus.

Don’t confuse what Prevost is doing with a warranty. There is nothing written, it is on a case-by-case basis, and is primarily marketed as good will. Older coaches are getting less contribution, if any. Please consider adding your coach details to your signature.

So I’m assuming you usually get 4 Cruise Airs (not Roof Airs) when the coach has OTR? Do the RA’s have more BTUs for cooling?

I have no idea if it will make it that far. Maybe a call to Prevost PASS would get you more info…. I would imagine if it is having trouble with the engine RPM, it may decide to call it quits at some point to protect itself, but I don’t have enough Allison experience to know for sure.
