To many possibilities but there is one thing certain. If the leakage is not stopped it will not be very long before the water damage gets very expensive to repair.

Chasing water leaks are a whole lot easier than finding air leaks, but water leaks do a whole lot of damage in a relatively short period of time.

That is one reason I want my bus very close and well protected against freezing.

I remain in awe of Jim’s ability to track coaches by build number. Even more amazing to me is how he can tell one from another because the designs and colors, unless something is really unique, all seem to blend together after a while.

Some while ago, I talked with a gentleman at Steele Rubber. He said they would indeed be interested in the market for older Prevost model stuff as they’ve had a number of inquiries. But, he said they need an actual physical sample of the seal/gasket in order to engineer it. Unfortunately, we don’t want to give up our window seal or a portion of it as a sacrifice. If we were near Maiden, we’d gladly camp in Steele’s parking lot while their engineers work on it provided they could give it back intact.

The 2000 Vogue that Dick is referring to was actually our coach that we unfortunately had to recently repossess. We had two choices: sell it as is (incl a horrid body wrap that only related to the owners business and other interests and a ton of issues related to it’s sitting for a long period along with a lack of maintainance) or investing a good chunk of time and money to realize the current value of a good example (70-80K). We took the easy way out. That said, it was a great coach and very much at the top of the non-Prevo food chain. I would not be afraid of a Vogue 5000 as the guys that built them are still around (Ben and Rick at the old Parliament). I would be afraid of the CC Concept as it is a true orphan. It is on a Gillig chassis and most likely the rest would not be supported by the current CC. Geo.

We’re a month short of four years with our Liberty. Still extremely pleased with our decision to buy it. Spent the weekend at the track, towed the 26′ enclosed Bravo trailer in both directions, everything worked. Still can’t believe the chassis is close to 20 years old and the conversion 19 years old. Most houses that don’t ever move are like our coach after 19 years!

If you’ll notice, my comment was “Worth the investment” meaning the investment of funds, time and commitment of purpose. I regret to the use of the word investment as Tom, ever the scholar, has hi jacked the thread into a world of its own. Shame on you Tom…

So, let’s strike the word investment from the conversation and get back to the true intent of the thread. Our older bus, the quality of product and why it’s worth putting time and money into it.

I don’t know what the cut in temp is on your bus for the 12v water heater. Ask Leon and if it’s webasto related call Rudy.

What is throwing me is why your 12v heater is working and not the 12v water heater.

I’d take a hard look at the air filter and the air filter housing. How many miles on the filter?

I would be reluctant to run a gasoline or diesel engine without the water pump running. I’d be concerned that without the coolant circulating in the engine there would be hot spots (particularly around the combustion chambers) that could result in really high temps and pressures before the coolant temp gauge would show the excessive temperatures. High enough to damage the engine.

I would rather disable the fan on the radiator, allow the water pump to move the coolant throughout the system, and monitor the coolant temp gauge. Without the fan running and limited air circulating across the radiator the temp should rise quickly.

Either way, I would be very reluctant to use any method of over-temping the engine to test the high temp switch There has to be another method of checking it.

Since the 2014 silverado manual says that the negative cable needs to be disconnected, I am assuming this is for the electronic ignition lock. Has anyone done the fuse removal on a 2014 GM truck with luck?
