Take your time and really get to know the market. Your budget is NOT going to buy a reliable coach and leave you with enough money to address what seem to be very common and expensive costs new owners face so you need to find that gem that hits the market once an eon.

On occasion that rare “needs nothing” older coach that has a low price hits the market. As a buyer you need to be so well educated as to what is out there and what the prices are that you will recognize the opportunity and are prepared to jump on it.

The key is you also need to be prepared to do a very complete inspection of the coach and its records to verify its condition or identify issues that need to be addressed. You cannot take the owner’s word for anything and unless there are highly detailed records provided any assurances the coach is well maintained can be a bunch of BS. You are going to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the magic prince.

I don’t want to discourage you but to make you aware your dream can turn into an expensive nightmare unless you work very hard to educate yourself.

He did take the wheel off, but he is concerned driving without the wheel could cause damage to the coach on dips.

None of his insurances (AA, Good Sam, FMCA) would cover the tow, and since the brake is frozen, he would have to get a flat bed. He already has a $2,000 towing bill to Prevost Ft Worth when his transmission would not go into gear at a rest area when he left here. If he can keep the wheel off the ground except occasionally for dips, he should be be OK. I suggested driving a few miles, check it, and proceed if everything is OK. We do feel for him. We’re home babysitting our new puppies, so we did not go with them this time.

Another down side of the parking was the $65 per night to DRY CAMP, especially for the vendors who were paying extra to have a booth at the show. Then the poor people who were parked on the East side probably thought they were at Cape Canaveral since their rear tires, in the grass, were about 2 feet below the fronts which were on the pavement. Even Tom’s boards would not have helped them.

Other than that, it was a real good show and a good time.

I would like to see a comparison test but so far I have never seen one.

I have used Baldwin, Donaldson, NAPA and Detroit but have no way of evaluating them.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jim. I see the connection you were making. I was hoping (as always) that it was something that easy. I have read on PC that the radiator fan automatically switches to high on some coaches with dash air. I have bus air from the factory and mine fan does not go to high with the bus air on.

I’m set up with Prevost Mira Loma tomorrow for my fuel tank recall. The are allowing 1.5 hrs. to do the work.

I’ll also have the oil/filter changed along with a chassis lube.

Does anyone know if the Cruiseairs have a defrost mode that reverses the evaporator/condenser when in heat mode and it is cold enough?

In addition to the coils being a little finicky sometimes (We’ve replaced 3 of them in 5 years), whoever makes them is right proud of them!! Pricey little rascals, but ya don’t have a lot of options.

We have wintered in Pearland (Advanced RV Resort) twice. The morning news videos of the rare ice storms showing cars, buses, and UPS tandems sliding around on the approaches to and on the fly-overs themselves are still vivid in my memory… =:-O

I did as Tom – our front is heavy and I had to run 130 psi on the 315’s. Changing to 365’s allowed me to run 105 – much nicer ride… and have an extra margin in weight rating.

There’s a lot of talk about hard to get 365’s or “I wouldn’t re-engineer my bus….” but, if I have to wait a few days to get a new tire so be it. The bennifit’s outweigh that *potential* cost. And Prevost started started shipping with 365’s so I figure they felt the buse’s needed it.

I really want to look into Lithium and Super singles to shed more weight. These Marathons are heavy!
