We looked at options out there when we bought out coach. In the end, we decided to stick with title/registration in our “home” state of GA. Sure we had to pay sales tax and that was a good amount of money, but it did a couple things.

Made it so our coach is titled and registered in the state we currently reside in. This means there are no questions in regards to insurance/etc. since we keep it here.

The other thing was with the new GA law, we pay once up front for tax (no more annual ad-valorem fees, which was still cheaper then CA annual reg even with their sales tax up front!) and get a VERY cheap annual tag fee (think it’s $250). No need for annual inspection (like Texas) and keeps the revenuers from coming after us down the road for tax dodging.

And of course there is the one item Jon mentioned in regards to commercial vehicle designation. More states are getting picky on what constitutes commercial VS private. I don’t want to have that discussion on the side of the road when the reg is to a LLC and not an individual and my non CDL isn’t sufficient in the eyes of the local constable.

Jon, please help me understand how side force on a steer tire that is being turned to go around a corner is comparable to a tag axle tire that is staying in a straight line when making turns. I am not having any luck wrapping my head around the concept. Thanks!

The heater/H20 switch on the dash controls an auxillary pump to help circulate the coolant. The rotary temperature control is what you use to adjust the temperature, and the rotary fan switch controls the blower. This is for Prevost Drivers A/C. If you have bus A/C, I think it operates the same way on that vintage.

It would be great to hear from owners who have the Volvo engine in their Prevost. I think they were installed about 2012. So, that would be at least 200-300 coaches sold during that time including the entertainer units?

Dean, I would check with Ben Cumming about the Vantare set-up. Evidently some of their caches were wired incorrectly at the inverters and it affects the run time on Auto-Gen. Ours is getting looked at as sonn as we get home to Fla. Getting a wee bit nippy here in Wis. Geo.

Well, we went from a 2007 Essex to a 2005 Liberty, No comparison! The fit and finish is like you will never see on a plastic coach, and they turn heads, Sort of like when the USS North Carolina a new class Battle ship sporting 16″ guns, came in to Pearl Harbor on her shake down cruise, every body stopped to admire her because she was something special, like a Prevost

The engine management computer on my vintage of S60 is not well protected. It’s fairly low on the right side (on mine) and should be protected. Saw one get fried on an H at the truck wash when they did the engine.

I have painted aluminum many times and adhesion has never been a problem. Should one have concerns about this, 3M 111 Adhesion Promotor can always be sprayed on prior to painting or clearing. (that’s provided you can get it as many states will not allow its sale)

Jon is correct in his discussion of prep work but that really holds true for any kind of painting. To re-state, the wheel must be absolutely clean and free from anything that could contaminate the surface, salt, tar, oil, dirt, silicone. With this project I used the best of materials. Clear coat can be purchased anywhere from 40/gallon to 90/quart….Earl Scheib vs. Exotic by Design. I used a Sikkens High Solids non photochemically reactive clear, the later meaning that it will offer UV protection and will not yellow. The high solids allows for a thick build (all relative) which can be sanded and buffed if necessary. I reduced the clear per manufacturer instructions and as mentioned used just a skosh more hardener. I used my small Iwata gun with a 1.3 nozzle and 30 psi at the gun. (like I always do).

Again, I realize this may be a bit of a bold project but one can always have it done, either at a body shop or a wheel refurb place. And Jon, as you say, I would rather eat bees than to paint stainless steel, that’s the one that is a true nightmare in my book…………….
