  • Coolant / filter change.

Posted by Jim on September 25, 2014 at 10:05 am

I just had a coolant system maintenance done at Prevost. They flushed and changed the fluid and put on a new coolant filter. Drove home great on Tuesday. Went out this morning to pull it out to wash and I got a warning in the control center on the dash that looks like a picture of a radiator with a shut engine/check engine lights on.

Went out back and checked the coolant level in the resivoir tank…looks normal. I opened the pressure cap under the tank and heard a bit of “air” burp when the cap came off. Went back in and started the coach again and the same warning. I’m wondering if there is air in the lines? Any advice or help would be appreciated. Is there something simple I can try? Suppose to leave on Friday for the weekend with the coach and the wife is looking at me like…..what now!

    Jim,

It’s very common to have air in the system after changing fluid. Get a couple extra gallons of anti freeze and top it off, run it a bit and top it off again.

You are sure you have no leaks, correct? You looked under the bus?

    You will be fine.

One thing I wanted to add is make sure your valves for your aqua hot or webasto are open. I don’t know how your plumbed in a Royal but you want to make sure all your valves are open when you fill it.

Jim, sometimes there is a stubborn bubble of air. Carry some 50/50 mixture with you and do as Bernie says. It will eventually pop that bubble and you will be able to top off.

It’s good practice when at Prevost to run your motor after a fluid change and let it sit for a few minutes and restart. When they changed my CAC they us a 55 gallon drum and pump anti freeze in the radiator until they think it’s full, my alarm went off too and had to top it off twice.
