If you’re talking about Cruiseairs, they’re almost unobtainable.

Jim n Chris: Is heading north to I-80 a better route if running through Colorado with no stops?
-
Yes your right but for me my DN50 is 12v and I don’t have OTR and my inverter is not set up for inverting AC’s so If for some reason my DN50 failed this would be just fine. the advantage is you could carry a spare Boashalternator- way lighter- better access to compressor-cheaper. It would be a option for some

The 50DN is oil cooled and on a coach set up to run an A/C through the inverter the load can be heavy and as such will generate a lot of heat.
On a 12V house just one A/C unit can draw a 130 amp load. Add a second and a 50DN is almost overloaded. The load on the 50DN is more reasonable on a 24V house, the lighter the load the less heat.

Thanks guys for the feedback. @Chip, yeah … next time I’m at my TN place I’m gonna drop by Jeff’s place. In fact I was tooling around Vonore in my FC a couple of weeks ago and almost dropped by ETLC, but my wife stopped me, said our vintage all american steel rig might intimidate the shiny buses.

If a coach has OTR when it is parked at a campsite the house A/C units are used.
We can all get into a pissing contest about the efficiency of various systems, but it is a waste of time because we all have different tolerances for heat. The buyer of a coach has to decide what is tolerable.
There is no way in the world a converter installed system they call OTR is equal to the Prevost OTR which is designed to keep 50 bodies in a coach driving through Arizona in August cool. Some people do not need to be as cool as others so in some cases the small converter installed system is adequate. In my case I would be suffering unless I could have water running down the outside of the windows.

I noticed that to be a 240 volt dual element unit. Mine is a 16 gallon 110, is in the water bay and does a great job for 2 people back to back showers… I have never seen one of that size in a coach.

Thank you for chasing this down and posting. I should know this about my coach, but is the generator 2 speed? I have noticed the oil pressure sometimes fluctuates like it is changing speeds. Not sure how you vary speed in a generator system. I didn’t think it was possible, but the manual you posted talks about setting high and low speeds.

My quest has ended and I have a nice toad. I really dislike the complexity and number of steps required to get it from a driveable to a towable mode, but maybe I will get used to what seems like an endless list.
Most of what I do not like in the overall opinion of the Jeep is the software is set up to protect drivers from themselves with features that tend to provide protection but are annoyingly intrusive, including multiple portions of the change to or from driving to towing mode.
One thing I never knew but found out the hard way is if it has a trailer hooked up it really doesn’t want you to back up. Every time I tried to back up with the trailer, the first thing it would do was slam on the brakes as if I was going to back the Jeep into something. Maybe all modern cars are this way.

Like Dick, we do both and I would never use a trailer for anything but the race car! Geo

Tom and Jon and your better halves,
Congratulations and a sincere thanks for all you have done for me and the PC Community. Besides being a wealth of knowledge you are both amazing characters and a pleasure to know. Becky and I wish all the best to you both and especially to Nancy and Di who may have to put up with you more than ever.
-
A few advantages
car is always clean after towing
you can back up with out detaching
tracks behind coach better
disadvantages
issues with parking trailer in campground- site length
places like our CA resort forbid trailers
might need to pay for second site for trailer for night
tow-bars attachments inherently have “slop” causing towed car to wonder a bit side to side. Watch a Blue Ox equipped towed car sache’ side to side with removable tabs.

I also want to say ‘THANK YOU’ to the Prevost team (Jon, Tom and Joe)!
This site helped guide us into building a new 2015 Prevost back in 2014. It became clear with all of the knowledge on this site that Prevost was the way to go for quality and excellent service facilities.
I’m sure with the ground-work that Jon and Tom laid down here that Bill and Jessica will continue the success of the Prevost Community website.
Thanks again!

There is no truth to the rumor I am recommending Tom as a means of sucking up so he will send me some dues money.
