Do you have 4 total batteries, 2 parallel 12 volt banks in series to get to 24VDC?

As Mikee posted …damage is 2 wires. Repair and give it a try.

Glad you found it!
Have found “Better Bubbles” by Rectorseal to be the very best liquid to find tiny leaks. Their smallest bottle comes with a dauber (like old style shoe liquid shoe polish) and allows easy, direct application.
Apply it and then re-inspect after 15 minutes. Doing so has allowed me to find VERY SMALL leaks that were not initially evident. It is a very thick solution that adheres very well.

I sent your pictures to a friend who knows and he said he’s never seen burn’t windings on a Kohler but has on a older Powertech.
What were you running or doing when it failed?

Thanks to all for the comments/suggestions.
I took the coach to a service center that has helped diagnose unrelated issues in the past. It took 45 minutes to get there. We could not duplicate the problem when we plugged the coach into a 50amp receptacle. The DC amps began to rise after plugging in but never reached the max as before. The inverters were charging the batteries.
Here is what we think happened:
I washed the coach in the morning and pulled it back into the garage. I always plug the coach into a 30amp outlet when parked, then I don’t have to worry about shutting down 120 volt circuits. This time I forgot to plug it in. When I realized this 8 hours later, i plugged it in to my 30amp outlet and that’s when the breaker popped. The batteries were drawn down to a point that the surge from the inverters to charge them back up was greater than the 30amp breaker would allow. At this point I panicked as we were planning to leave on an extended trip in the morning. I plugged the coach into a 50amp outlet and saw the same rise in DC amps on the remote panel as the inverters tried to charge the batteries. I manually shut down the circuit breaker to prevent damage. This was my first mistake. Had I left the circuit breaker alone, I now believe the inverters would have been able to charge the batteries and I would have been on my way. I also started up the generator to see if this made a difference. I prematurely shut down the generator when I experienced the same rise in amperage. Had I left the generator on, perhaps the inverters would have been able to charge the batteries.
We concluded that the 45 minute drive to the service facility allowed the alternator sufficient time to charge up the batteries and that is why we could not duplicate my earlier issues.
We are on our trip and all is well so far. Batteries are charged.
This experience has prompted some inverter-related questions. I believe our 2 Heart Interface Freedom 25 inverter/chargers are original to the coach. They have been very reliable for the past 20 years. But, what is the expected useful life of an inverter/charger? Do they begin to lose effectiveness/efficiency over time? Should I be thinking about replacing these units or wait until they fail? How would I know when it is time to replace them?
Looking forward to hearing from the experts (or those that have experienced inverter failure).

West Marine, amazon, carry them. Amazon is where we got ours

I had virtually the same symptoms a few years ago…. took a long time to switch over… lots of clicking and flickering. I could hear the clicking in the pass through bay. Took it to marathon in coburg and the tech figured it out pretty quickly… and some sort of relay later… problem gone.

FYI – I just tried PC on Safari using my IPad and my login info is there, just like on Chrome and Firefox. Maybe something changed, it didn’t work previously.

C’bus, Safari doesn’t work well at holding login information. I only use Chrome or Firefox on the PC site and login info is retained.

Bob,
I had to reschedule for next week. I will be there on Tuesday for a first shift Appt. They quoted me around $700 per tire plus 1,000 for labor which seemed high but they were the only place I could find that had them. Date code of june 21.
I will ask them about matching the advantage price. I followed registered my credit card with PC account number but didn’t get as far as getting a price as I couldn’t find a local dealer that had them. Several had them on BO for a Month or more.
I will let you know how it goes.

Yes, we will be making a lot of positive site changes over the next several weeks. Actually I hope you all like the new homepage. Next on the list will be the classified section. Before you ask, we do not have any plans to drastically change the forum.
I was told to clear the browser history after we made the homepage update. It instantly resolved any issue that I had. Please try that and let me know if that resolves the issue. If not we will work with Joe to get it fixed:)

Unless something has changed recently, AAP in VA has most anything you need in the way of Crusiairs. Parts, complete units, technical support, whatever!
