DKO…
Jon is indeed correct about Vantare being setup differently in that everything does run through the inverters.
You can with the help of your inverter manual set up your generator to come on when it sees the voltage drop to your desired voltage and turn off at your desired voltage. I believe there are guidlines for those voltages too.. another option is time of day etc.. I have never used either option but they are there.
Like Jon… I keep my eyes on the inverter numbers if I am running off the batteries… you have to be especially careful as everything you have on at the time of a power failure (shore) your inverters will try to start everything back up from your batteries and run until they die (batteries) if you don’t have your settings correct.
I have never run an ac off the batteries.. I’d rather run my OTR from my engine if I had to… I use the heck out of my generator… figured that’s what its for and doesn’t use much fuel…and it’s a real workhorse & I can run everything in the bus.. they run better loaded up. The cost of the fuel is cheaper than new batteries prematurely !!
Just my two cents worth.

You may have to go one step further if it’s the valve instead of the coil. Here’s what they look like, the valve has the red tip:

The batteries are age compromised, test them first.
Isolate the batteries and test them individually. Important to do because if one has gone south via shorted cell, it will drag them all down and do irrepairable damage to all of them.
Couple of questions:
1. Do you have a battery tender installed on the chassis batteris? If yes, is it functioning correctly?
2. Can you yank them and take them to the brand dealer and let them make the diagnosis on them.

Call Vista Mfg. I got a bunch of rope lighting from them for my coach last winter.

Just call it a comfort control. Scratch out the degree marks and set them to what you feel is right.

Does this mean I have to call you Sir Jon now? Bob

Ron,
Thanks for the indepth report on the campground. This is exactly what we need, feedback from members with a bus that has actually been there and experienced the facility. The picture group also helps.
Hopefully, St. Rosa will view this as a constructive review and it may help them going forward in their efforts to finish their campground while trying to attract big rigs.

The last time I pressure tested my system looking for a leak I found an unexpected one between the center lower radiator core and the rear side tank cover. Went around and tightened all the bolts I could reach slightly and that got it.

In case you don’t know, the Ultra Shift has had LOTS of problems with electrical connectors in trucks. You may want to really verify the condition of every connection and its sealing surface before heading out on the road. The truck dealer I used to do business with was forever fixing these problems…they also exist in the Meritor Freedom line to a somewhat lesser degree. (the Freedom line has issues all it’s own over and above connectors). Many times the dealers would simply cut the connectors off and hard wire to the transmission to try to fix these issues. I don’t endorse this as it makes it harder to remove the unit if it needs repair.
Otherwise, the main box should be pretty bullet proof. You may want to practice operating in reverse too, if it works like the Freedom line does…they will sometimes surprise you by needing more throttle than one would think to get moving and then you get going too fast. We had 50 units with the Meritor in them and it was always a sore point with drivers.
