What do you have now? The answer is almost totally based on using the available space.

If that 40 gal unit is your current one, I’d find another like it. Mine is only 12 gallons!

I noticed that to be a 240 volt dual element unit. Mine is a 16 gallon 110, is in the water bay and does a great job for 2 people back to back showers… I have never seen one of that size in a coach.

Ron,
If that water heater is in your private 767 this goes in the aviation category.

Where did they find room in your Prevost bus to install a “40” Gallon water heater ? A 40 gallon water heater is probably 5 feet tall .

Raritan makes electric water heaters for Marine use,It’s just like a bus. They make all kind of sizes and the electric element is correct for amps for a bus, not 220 v they have a top mounting hole welded to tank for extra support they are little pricey and most buses have 2: 18 or 20 gallon water heaters, that’s what these water heaters are made for Buses or boats not residential.

Link to Whirpool PN in your picture. There is a spec sheet on your heater at this link as well.

Richard,
RE: Size. I have never seen one this size in a coach either. There is a lot in this coach I have never anywhere else for example a full-size jetted tub. I plan to replace the tub with a walk-in shower, but have not gotten around to that yet.

Curious. What about an electric tankless water heater? Anyone ever seen one installed in a coach?

Art,
How are two Raritan’s set up? Plumbing wise?
Easy enough to find a residential low-boy water heater. I do, however, like the idea of going to a water heater specifically designed for bus.

Hey Ron! They don’t make a AC volt tank less water heater, It would take to much power to make it work . As far as the plumbing Water goes in one heater then out then to 2nd heater then out. Electric wise add 1 more 20 amp 120v breaker and some Romex, Raritan is tough and reliable made not to rust inside and out. I’ve replaced over the years 2 Aqua Hot systems with a single Raritan 20 gallon water heater, you have to add a check valve on in coming water line not a problem, I install a Raritan in our 1980 Liberty years ago worked great. The base screws down to bottom of compartment and then you make a bracket for the top support and it won’t go anywhere. Also you can by it with or with out a heat exchanger, so when your driving it heat’s up.
