I also used Jeff but his layout and graphics are much different than Marathon’s. I’d also like to see Marathon’s iPad graphics posted.

tried to do that and showed no power, but didn’t want to take plug apart to get better contact with multi-meter (I just king of plugged the coil mostly in and tried to get a reading off the blades and it was 0). Could it just be the knob up by the driver?

Reading Jon’s so enthusiastic, upbeat, and positive missive from the opening events of Oyster Fest 2021 makes me really feel sad we couldn’t make it. The level of excitement must have the “Fun Meter” pegged! Maybe next year.
Please keep the reports and pictures coming!

Hi Jeff,
Battery voltage is a lousy way to assess lead acid battery SOC unless the batteries have been at rest neither charging or discharging for several hours. Even then it is at best a guess. 12vdc at rest is a lead acid battery that is at least 50% depleted and may well be further depleted than that. While running high amp draw AC appliances through an inverter you easily can see less than 11vdc on a volt meter even with fully charged batteries since one characteristic of any lead acid battery (AGM, SLA, flooded lead acid, etc.) is significant voltage sag under use.
As you have heard from others, unless you plan on regularly leaving the coach with AC appliances running, don’t worry much about your battery SOC, just run the generator for two to three hours in the morning and for an hour or two in the evening and you will be fine.
I split my house 12vdc battery bank into two banks, one lithium iron phosphate and the other 3 of my remaining AGMs. The inverter loads run only off the LiFePO4 batteries and the AGMs only see 12vdc loads like LED lights, motors for the pumps and Webasto, etc. First thing in the morning with shunt based battery monitors on both I see 30% or so SOC on the LiFePO4 bank and well over 60% on the AGM bank. An hour or two of generator running brings both back to 100% and I don’t need to run the generator in the evening. If you are interested you can read a five part article I wrote about how to do this in the last several issues of Bus Conversion Magazine.

Jeff, Isn’t your Marathon a 24 volt house and 24v inverters?

When we bought our 97 Royale in 2016, it came from AZ so I had to take it to the DMV in Paso Robles and had to park on street and after paper work in side the guy came outside to look it over and the Vin said it was a 96 and that is the way it is, so at that point I wanted out of there so I left the DMV with a 96 Royale, The next year when I had to get new tags I made an appointment, After waiting a while the DMV guy came out with his tape measure and paper work and again looked it over measured width- length and wanted to go inside and look for a tag and inside a plexi glass panel over passenger side windshield there is a label he looked at it even know it says 96 he said it is a 97. I left DMV with a 97 Royale, I was surprised but I’m glad I did it.

It has not gone yet. Wife wants it out before a trip in June. I have three strapping son’s that will serve the brute force necessary to get it out of the coach.
However, if anyone is need of one and wants to come work with me to get it out, I will be glad to get this done earlier.

Congrats! If I can convince him to share the dues with you we should go 50/50 I need a new Rolex lol.

I am actually headed to Jeff’s with the coach next week but sure thought I could locate them, I have been climbing around like a ninja looking!
For now I have just drained water tank since we are home until May.

Great to hear!!!!

Your best option is to enlist the aid of Jeff and his crew. He is about 1.5 hours away.
Are you saying the alternator quit and the chassis batteries went dead?

Lifeline is now close to a group 24 & 27 Lifepo4, they will be available soon. They have done years of testing and their early batteries purchased from China when disassembled were nothing but junk and crappy material.
I would guess there is a lot of junk out there being produced that will fail early and finding warranty support will be a joke. Stick with the brand names like Relion, Battleborn, etc..

Rudy is coming to work on my Webasto tomorrow!! I’m looking forward to meeting him and learning how to eat another bite of this elephant.
Does anyone know if my 1994 Liberty (w/8V92TA) has a 50K or 80K Webasto unit?
He’s almost certain my nozzle needs replacing since I haven’t fired it up in over a year – another expensive lesson!!

Called Prevost PASS and told them I had code 22 (EFPA -Electronic fuel pedal assembly) show up on the DDEC flashing display. PASS said it could be two things, a bad potentiometer on the back of the throttle pedal or a bad wiring harness. As Jon would say “go for the low hanging fruit”. I ordered a new potentiometer $120 and will install this weekend. PASS tells me its a simple plug and play, hope it’s that simple…

I installed 3 years ago the Progressive HW50C EMS hard wired in surge protector and volt protector, But I also use the Hughes Autoformer for low voltage in parks that everyone has AC’s cranking, and volts are lower than they should be and Autoformer boost volts 10 percent. It’s really hard on motors, compressors and other electrical devices to run on low volts. But that’s me do the reading and decide for yourself.
