Which would you choose for your coach?
If you could only purchase one…which would you get?
– Hughes Autoformers PWD50-EPO Watchdog (Surge Protector w/Auto Shutoff) or,
– Hughes Autoformers 50 Amp Voltage Booster with Surge ProtectionAnd, would you get the model(s) that hang from the campground power post…or, would you hardwire install in your power cord reel bay?
Please help explain why you’d choose one over the other? Was thinking about getting both…but, that might be overkill.
FYI – we will generally be plugged in to 50 Amp service (rarely boondock) – if that makes a difference in your recommendation.

I’ve always used progressive, but would like to try the Watchdog since it has Bluetooth.

One huge problem we all have is making selections based on recommendations. Over the years anything that can be a part of our conversions, from oil, to coolant, to tires, batteries, surge protectors, GPS units, window glass, and everything else under the sun has been discussed.
But each suggestion or recommendation is almost always based on one person’s experience rarely supported with hard data. Rather than asking recommendations such as on a surge protector I put a lot of weight behind someone giving detailed information about product support. I suspect a lot of what we buy is decent quality so buying decisions seem to be influenced greatly on how well the seller or manufacturer supports the product.

I installed 3 years ago the Progressive HW50C EMS hard wired in surge protector and volt protector, But I also use the Hughes Autoformer for low voltage in parks that everyone has AC’s cranking, and volts are lower than they should be and Autoformer boost volts 10 percent. It’s really hard on motors, compressors and other electrical devices to run on low volts.But that’s me do the reading and decide for yourself.
