Hmm, Dan, our previous four coaches all had 315’s all around.

    CC XLI 2 HWH slides

    Marathon XLII 1 slide

    Marathon H3-45 no slide

    Prevost Beaver Xl 40

Our current coach you saw at the Eclipse Rally is a 2000 Marathon XL 40 that the previous owner had converted steer and tag to 365’s

our front axle weighs in at 15,240 lbs We run 96 psi we disagree with the noise issue mentioned above. We pretty much ride like we are driving a marshmallow on a cotton ball, and the noise level is less than our previous coaches but that may also be contributed to Marathons superior insulating installation 😉

Di, make sure you keep Jon away from the Donut Bank and their Fruit Fritters. They are like Lay’s Potato chips, you just can’t eat just one!

    Hi Greg,

did you ever figure out what the problem was? Looks like someone wired a large current consumer into your dash light circuit. Probably the reason why your first unit burned out. Could also be someone put in 12V bulbs vs 24V bulbs.

I was using search to find any post on dash rheostats. My dash lights are flickering on-off and I’m suspecting the rheostat or associated supply/ground connections. Just wanted to see what other people had encountered.

Peter: Not sure that’s correct with his coach. My coach (#440) has the XLII style instruments…guessing his are same. I think my fuel gauge goes wherever it wants with key off. Thinking yhis problem will ‘fix itself’ is ludicrous.

Mine has oil pressure and water temp safety switches so I assume all of them have these.

The switch for the water temp may be bad.

If you are sure the gen is not over heating take the wires off the switch for the water temp and connect them together and if it runs longer maybe when the switch heats up it loses contact internally.

If the water is circulating through the radiator correctly that indicates the water pump is working, I guess.

Thank you. I hope to have it ready some day for folks to stop in and park outside. I have a 50 amp hook up outside and the water tapped at the road. I have a week at home in November and a couple of weeks in December. I guess I need to learn to run a backhoe and put the water in then IF the ground is not frozen.

But Jon, if you waive the dues, Tom will not be able to pay his Home contractor’s Invoice for October.

23% of accidents “involved” speeding isn’t the same thing as 23% of accidents are DUE to the speeding.

You really have to be fully thought out about stats like that. They can easily misrepresent reality.

A LOT of people speed. You’d be hard pressed find many accidents that didn’t involve speeding. But – that doesn’t mean it was nessesarily because of it.

In CA we already have the 55 limit for big rigs. On the 5 to LA trucks are supposed to go 55. Car limit is 70. But – cars go 80 to 90. In my van, I want to go the speed limit. But that means I have to try to get back in the left lane to pass often. And the cars do everything they can to block you. And thy are going FAST past you making it real hard to travel at the speed limit. You basically get behind a truck then have to slow and wait tor a hole. Then pull out and pass then back in the right and get blocked again. This happens all the way to LA from SF.

OR you just go 70 in the left (legal here as is passing in the right) but then the cars just go 80 in the right coming up on the trucks going 55-60. They then shoot the gap back into the left nearly causing accidents at least 5 times a trip. Hell they made a volkswagon commercial featuring just that move – and how the peppy Volkswagon can do it.

Its its so bad on our way back from Jeffs in TN we were doing fine through AZ then – as we hit the CA line TRAFFIC and cars weaving in and out of the lanes. We had the mash the brakes quite a few times and then we just slowed to 60 and marked it down as just another example of nanny laws that have a good ring to them – but in practice do more harm than good.

I believe the speed differential is the cause of a lot of close calls and accidents. Today the trucks push it and make the differential less. Governed they won’t be able to – and the cars will keep going 80-90. The accidents will go up. You can bet on it

Even the commercial written test here in CA has a test question about it being the safest for all traffic to be going the same speed! A test question! And we have the truck speeding limit 15mph less. Bueracracy at its finest

In CA when we went from federal 55 limit to 70. The head of the CHP went onTV to say after 1 year the increase in speed led to fewer accidents – against all the dire warnings of the nannies.

I agree though… Get ready. They’re going to do it. Ugh. They already banned diesels. Just wait – they will ban the RV ones too and half of us won’t be able to drive XL’s in CA.

If you’re plugged in or running the gen, the inverter circuit is passing AC through as Jon pointed out. The inverters are then acting only as battery chargers.

Thank you Jeff, when I purchase the coach they opened the awings with an aluminum rod with a red plastic handle on it. They said “this” is what you open your awings with. So when I found these I really wondered what they were for!!

    Thanks Again!

Thanks Jon. I will try that next time I’m out. I wonder why it simply doesn’t say “Trans” rather than “Oil”.

So then I can conclude the coach probably doesn’t have an engine oil temp gauge nor a differential temp gauge.

There does not seem to be a provison for Parking spots in the map. There is a “Parking” catagory in the forum but this mosly seems to be for people asking questoins and not so great for posting good dry camping spots. Perhaps this catagory is worth adding to the maps ?? I would suggest that this be for exceptioial or noteworthy spots that are gems to share. An RV park is a last choice for me when I can’t park on the water or with a nice view and I think those of us that favor this kind of parking would have some good locations to share. Then there are other locations where an RV park is simply not an option. Like the ones I know about in NYC.
