    Break out your wallet.

That’s just the cost of ownership. Nothing new or special.

You just need to find folks other than Prevost to do your work. It will save at least 50%.

Don’t waste your time on a 25 year old AC. I just replaced mine with a new Coleman Two ton unit for $28000. By the time you get the old one fixed you could have that much invested and still have a 25 year old unit.

I did mine myself and the hardest part was remaking the duck work.

Replace the fuel filters, that’s the easiest to start with.

P.S. Make sure you don’t ingest air into the system when changing filters!

Spent last two days calling numerous gun sales from Walmart to Gander to Pawn Shops. There are little to no guns (hand or long guns) available. Yes there is some left over cheap stuff that no one wants. The real kicker is No Ammo is available for hand or long guns.

Bottom line is if anything is to be bought you have to do it backwards, find what ammo is available and by the weapon to match the ammo. The current lack of guns and ammo real put this hole thing in to perspective. Scary times.

    David:

When in the U.S Coast Guard I was trained to use a shot gun as the weapon of choice. It has a deterrent most other weapons do not have, the sound of racking a round in the chamber. Plus it is very user friendly in confined area’s and close quarters.

Having said that I am currently looking for a shot gun with 18.5″ barrel with combination pistol grip/shoulder stock. Apparently everyone else on the planet is also looking and even if I did find one there is no rounds other than bird shot available. All the gun shops are telling me their suppliers have no schedule as to their next shipment and any ammo is 2-3 months out for restocking.

Any suggestions or sources how to legally acquire a shot gun anytime soon?

I own guns and carry a pistol and a shotgun with #6 bird shot. I hope I never have to use either. My best protection as stated earlier is my key.

Both of those stated above, the key and the guns are last resorts.

My primary means of protection is planning and doing all possible to never put myself in a position where I have to rely on either. If I were to be traveling now my first option is to not go downtown anywhere, to remain where crowds are unlikely, to use traffic routes such as interstates, and to avoid as much human contact as possible.

    Call me chicken.

All kidding aside I have learned our batteries make all the difference between having a reliable coach with everything working, or a coach with batteries at end of life making senseless problems such as making it appear the inverters are failing.

If your batteries are old replace them. It is a lot cheaper to replace batteries before you have problems and if you do not plan on trading coaches soon really give serious thought to the Relion LiFePo4 drop in replacements. They are very expensive but the reduction in weight, the increase in available power and their considerable life span makes that cost an investment rather than an ongoing maintenance cost.

Thanks Jon, I traced the affected module and wires, it seems that just wiggling the wire had both functions return working when I started the coach, must have been a loose connection! I had prepared a diagram of all the modules and labeled the module #, So it makes it easier to locate.

I agree with your thinking John, but as a resident of the NY snow belt traction is compromised with too much or too little air. We needed the most tread contact on the road to help prevent skids and provide the best traction for starting and stopping.

In a motor home we are able to do this. When I had trucks we had to inflate for the loads, but when empty it was evident the pressures greater than needed compromised handling.

As a side note however I have always added 5 PSI over the chart pressures. just to buy a little time if I did develop a slow leak.

I realize that air pressure effects ride quality and tire wear and I’ve never changed a tire due to wear. Only due to damage and time. However, the arch enemy of the tire, and probably the major factor in blow outs, is heat. Just a very few pounds in the air pressure has a big effect on the heat build up in the tire. The higher the pressure, the cooler the tire runs. Due to this, I tend to run the tire pressure near the max limit and accept the trade-off effects on wear and ride quality which I don’t really notice. If my thinking is wrong, please straighten me out. Thanks.

Don … you’ve given me the confidence to buy the equipment and try it myself. Between your post and some YouTube videos will see what I can do. Hopefully I won’t screw them up so bad that Jeff and his guys can’t get the Cruise-Airs going again.

Installed the new pump and removed the external pressure switch. All works as it should now, no surging and good pressure.

I have Progressive through Miller insurance with agreed value for 1,4690 per year. They also offer “Winter Layup from September to April. That can take just over $5000 off that price.

What Jon said about insurance is interesting and is most likely an important factor. I also think there is a lot more info on line these days from forums, FB, YouTube etc that spell out the real costs of keeping a used out of warranty bus running/in good shape.

Like others have said, we are probably not going back to the good old days anytime soon, too many unknowns now unfortunately.

I also see most of the same coaches for sale, no big price drops yet. Like real estate some inventory is being held off the market right now and the real deals will probably be 12-18 months away.
