Art when I replaced mine I went with all red . They are rated for higher heat than the blue & Black. Red rated for temps up to 500 degrees. Blue and Black rated for for heat up to 350 degrees. they are the same size. I double clamped mine.

When the lousy charge air coolers were installed on EGR coaches most failed prematurely and had to be replaced. My coach had one of those lousy CACs.

When Prevost replaced them the hoses specified were inappropriate for the position called for and a pissing contest ensued. Prevost inverted the hoses specified and called for the blue hoses rated at 350 for the hot side, and the red hoses rated at 500 for the cold side. Obviously hose failures occurred.

During this period I replaced my CAC, but before doing so I had my reader hooked up to the coach and learned a lot. First, the air temp coming from the turbo was at 500 degrees. With my EGR coach the turbo boost gage always read a max of 30 PSI, but the reality is when the EGR was engaged the actual turbo boost reached 50 PSI so it became crystal clear that the hoses have to be appropriate for the position and duty.

It is critical that hoses from the turbo to the CAC are rated for at least 500 degrees. Prevost now is installing on series 60 EGR engines blue hoses rated for 500 degrees, but with a 20% duty cycle so if you contemplate ordering hoses from Prevost the hoses they might supply will not be like aftermarket 500 degree rated, continuous duty hoses.

These are from the cold side not bad but the back side has no wire and really soft. Darn Craig that engine compartment looks awesome.

Agree with Art – Wow! What a glimpse! Craig… Please post additional pics of your engine compartment, and tell us how you did it.

I have never had an opportunity to measure temps or pressures on non-egr engines, but I suspect those hoses on pre-EGR coaches never see the extreme temps and pressures the EGR produces.

If anyone has a reader or maybe a Silverleaf can anyone report on turbo outlet temps and pressures?
