It won’t work out because nothing seems to average out as we plan. But if you want an average my best guess would be about $750 which would cover all the planned expenses such as oil changes and lubes and filters, plus tires and batteries whose cost is divided by their assumed service life in months, then do the same for major fluid changes like coolant or transmission fluids.

What never seems to happen as planned are needed repairs such as wheel alignment, alternator replacement, body rash repairs, etc.

Then you end up spending money you never anticipated because the satellite dish needed replacement or an aux compressor quit. Let’s not forget the new upholstery or a refrigerator replacement.

So the question remains regarding average costs as to how to compensate for the unplanned?

Sorry for resurrecting this old post. I recently experienced the exact symptoms as Gerald. It would only happen at city speeds when the bus would propose over bumps. I finally realized what was happening. Because I was driving slow my foot was barely engaging the throttle. When I hit a bump my foot would momentarily go to zero throttle allowing the Jake to cycle a couple of times. Jeff just installed new front shocks so I no longer experience the proposing. This drove me nuts for a while before figuring it out. Again, sorry for digging up bones but didn’t see a resolution and thought it might help someone else with a Jake and a bouncy classic. Just trying to fill in the database.

Gerald,do your remember what was causing the noise? Jeff

    Jeff,

Good info, but your link didn’t work, but I used this link to get to their site: https://www.steinbauer.cc/us/

I also viewed a video on UTube in reference to Motorhomes. Interesting, especially if you live out West in the Rockies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfOghWXITXE

(I couldn’t remember where I posted my original lock post and posted the below in the ‘Chassis’ section)

    ————————

    Hello Gang,

I can’t locate the thread where I mentioned about my entry door locking system will go to sleep overnight.

I would have to ‘energize’ the system by turning the ignition key to the acc. position.

Finally, it appears that Prevost corrected the issue yesterday while in for service. They have made three attempts but it was difficult for them as the minute the engine is started, the system is energized and no ‘sleeping’.

Prevost found that the multiplex system needed an update. I checked the coach this morning remotely and I could lock and unlock the coach with the first hit of the button on my iphone.

So, it appears that it stays energized now but I will keep an eye on it and will test it while on the road in a couple of weeks.

Now, when I wake up in the morning and want to open the entry door, I can hit the ‘unlock’ button on the key pad next to the door. If I didn’t energize the system, opening the door manually would cause the alarm to sound.

    Thank You PREVOST Mira Loma!

    Mark

Update: I have used the coach several times since the update and all works normal.

Andy, your multiplex system might need an update.

    H J,

Review and read all the articles, there is a wealth of information there for new to Prevost folks.

Welcome aboard, you found the right place to begin your search. I had many fiberglass coaches prior to Prevost and don’t let anyone fool you, there is NO comparison.

We will do out very best to help you spend your money.:)

HJ, In case you didn’t figure it out before hand the folks on this site are pretty biased towards Prevost ownership.

The answers you get on a conventional motor home site are likely going to be the opposite of what you are told here. That is why you need to do your homework and learn how to separate the fact from fiction in some of the answers to your questions. The answers you get on this site are very likely to come from those who have experienced conventional RVs as well as their Prevost so they are going to tend to be better positioned to see both sides of the issue.

But keep in mind we make stuff up.
