Overnight Parking around Knoxville
Hello, travelling back from Florida to Michigan, looking for an overnight stay close to I75 easy on/off around Knoxville.
Any feedback on Sweetwater KOA, Exit 62 on I 75?
Suggestions?

If I was just overnighting I would just dry camp at the Dinner Bell a little east of exit 62 for the night.
I haven’t eaten at the Dinner Bell for several years, but they used to have a cheap but decent buffet.

Since you’re in the neighborhood and apparently looking for skinny deals, Weigel’s just off I-75 on Hwy 72 has some of the least expensive diesel around between Florida and the Midwest. It’s on the way to Jeff’s too.

Been to the KOA at Sweetwater numerous times they have a number of spots that worked for us. It’s been a number of years now, so not sure of their tree trimming.

Their Civic Center has overnight parking and 50A service. I think its about $25 and is walking distance to downtown restaurants.

Actually, just looking for a place to relax / rest after 9-10 hours drive, where I do not have to maneuver too much to get into place.

If you want to stop earlier, exit 306 north of Atlanta at Adairsville, GA is where we always stay, easy in and out and long pull throughs. Just left there today.

Btw, how was the drive thru Atlanta downtown? Or you took 275?
Last November 275 S was a mess going down, lost 1.5 hrs in traffic due to accident while route thru downtown was clear, after Google updated, lol…

Atlanta traffic is miserable unless you go through it around 2:00 AM. The rest of the day, especially the start of the business day, the end of the business day and around lunch hour when everyone is running errands sucks.
I cannot avoid it so I time when I go through Atlanta as best I can and I always go through it on the HOV lane entering around MM 238 northbound or MM 259 southbound.
Going around it on the by-pass, east or west sides for me in not an option because it is not an improvement, just more miles.

Your best time is 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and go straight through on 75 in the HOV lane. We went through last Tuesday and mostly did the speed limit all the way through, but it can be a nightmare at any time. I wouldn’t use 285 unless 75/85 in the city was blocked up. Keep in mind trucks have to use 285 unless local delivery, so little truck traffic in town.
We lived north of Atlanta for 35 years and avoided downtown like the plague because the traffic has become a disaster.

So I was headed south on I-75 yesterday about noon and passed 2 Prevost headed north (I was in the truck, not bus). Would have been just south of adairsville which is where I got on. One fancy Alabama red (yuck) and one tan.
did not get a good look as they popped up quick and some medium brush blocked my view of the toads. I thought it looked like our fearless leaders, although I have not seen Tom’s new last bus without rivets. Sounds like it was indeed?
i also passed a bright blue one also headed north about 30 minutes later. Anyone want to claim that one?

My bus has kind of been in a few pieces this past week so I cannot claim to have been anywhere near anywhere.
It could have been Tom, but his toad this trip would have been an armored car. I think he said he is bringing me some dues money. At least I think that is what he said.

I don’t know when you are leaving, or how fast you drive, but if I cannot get through Atlanta mid day or at O Dark thirty I overnight just south of Atlanta and start driving about 4 or 5 AM.
From Marathon to Atlanta seems like it will put you there at the evening rush hour. Having a bee hive for a hat would be less painful.
Stop at Carroll’s, exit 82 in GA, buy some great filets and pan sausage and thick sliced bacon, and leave Carroll’s at 9 AM to get you through Atlanta at an almost acceptable hour of daylight.
