We are serious in our search for a “perfect” Prevost conversion. Perfect includes affordability at the top of the list of requirements. That puts us around $400k, not in the 400’s but at 400 with a little wriggle room.

Orphans do not particularly scare us, while we would love to stay with a current converter, but it seems possible to get, say a 2006 orphan for the price of a 2002 current converter. Of course it is always condition, condition, condition. The de-lam issue for all XLII’s apply.

We recent have looked at several Country Coach conversions, two of them 2006. I’m aware of the RVAC basement airs (or Coleman replacements), some glass dash use (not in any that we are interested in), and converter specific electronics.

It seems most of the electronic problems I have read about are in the older CC’s, but is it an issue in 2006 models?

Are there other areas unique to CC’s that I need to be aware of?

We certainly are not restricting our search to CC’s or orphans and well cared for higher mileage buses don’t scare us either. For the right price, getting the valves/injectors serviced is OK but I’d like to stay way short of a 500k mileage in-frame.

Thanks for all input from first hand CC owners and others with direct experience.

    Les,

So far we are unaware of any conversion that could not be serviced after it became an orphan. If anyone has an orphan coach and has had an issue getting service please share that information.

    Les,

I personally would have no reservations about a 2006 CC, as Jeff pointed out, all can be updated if needed.

    Les,

My 2002CC/2000 chassis has been as trouble free as anything I read about on any forums. Jon, Tom, Jeff and others preach it all the time. What’s important is how the coach was cared for. I was lucky and the prior owner had it the majority of its life and did a great job of care and maintenance. ( This is not to say Jon won’t give you trouble if you purchase anything but a Liberty. ) Buddy and Michael have got to have as much CC owners experience as anyone on PC so they are a great source. Gil on POG is also a great source and has ownership experience and expertise. I am not aware of CC’s having unusual electrical problems. Coaches of my vintage have what is referred to as the Electrical Control Center usually referred to as ECC when you read about it, which is different than the years you are considering. Crestron will be in the coaches you are considering. I find the ECC to be a simpler/different way to accomplish the same tasks as newer CC’s and other converters, but it is different and I do believe some have seen it as a problem because it is different. CC under its new owner still services and produce the items for the ECC. There is a very good article on POG “Country Coach – Why Buy One” that you should read. It seems all of us sing the praises of what we own and I love em all, but I agree with you that prices are different and although I haven’t checked today there have been come very nice CC’s for sale lately. Hope to see you down the road in your new coach.

P.S. Jeff can fix anything, even a Liberty.
