cargo lights
Does anyone know where the relay for the outside cargo lights is located. I looked in the bay outside the drivers seat and the electric bay mid way back on the drivers side. I saw nothing labeled for the cargo lights. Rick

are 24 volt so will be on 24 volt red stack in either FJB or Rear JB re wire is 24 -V If I get chance tomorrow I’ll check Might ck your decal on fjb door. The docking lights are in a weird place though on some coaches behind the dash.. FWIW Bob

Like in the bed of a chev pickup are 12 volt and will be protected by a 12 V breaker with a yellow wire running to it. Mine has them will try to ch tomorrow to see if I have location for you. Most common problem with them is bad ground.
Try patio lights or some other discription.

I’ll look and see what I can find. The problem I’m having is the light won’t shut off. I can cut power at the main (HOUSE 12V) switch in the right rear. Rick

If the light(s) will not shut off it is likely the little green relay that is part of the A-B system has welded itself shut.
Find out which relay it is and replace it and the problem is likely to go away. Your Liberty manual likely will list the circuit number so you can identify which relay if it, or if you don’t have a manual have Denise alternately switch those lights on and off and you should see a small red light over the defective relay go on and off.
If you don’t have a spare relay just pull the relay. I ordered a box of 10 of them for $25 and keep them as spares.

I think I have same lights Not liberty but XLE factory shell. I haven’t got up to look for source yet. But you are saying it is a Liberty installed option? Bob

On 24 volt (Elegant Lady) Liberty coaches a lot of the electrical lights and devices are controlled by small relays driven by a bank of PLCs. That is how Liberty sets up their electrical system on that model.
So typically when something wont work or shut off the part most likely to be the cause is a small relay. The system sounds complex because a switch in the house talks to the PLC, which in turn actuates a relay which then lights a light, but in fact it works very well and is reliable. In about 10 years of ownership of two coaches with that system my total system repairs have been 2 failed relays, and it took less than 5 minutes each time to figure out which one it was and swap out the relay.
The lights are not the halogen lights used for cornering, but lights used at one time on GM pickup trucks that are used for area lighting when parked.

I have both docking/cornering and the gm type bed lights higher up both sides… This was a entertainer shell from prevost. FWIW..Just triva Bob

The upper lights were likely converter installed and the docking / cornering likely Prevost installed.

You know what I think of the converter ( name ommited) I haven’t traced them down yet just know they have a switch on left console. O-Joy! Glad I stripped this one all the way down…..To much Info and not a major converter! Bob

Found the correct relay. Pulled the relay and light went out. Replaced with new relay and light won’t shut off with switch. There are 2 switches for the cargo lights. Neither will turn off the lights. Unpluged the light switches and nothing changed. Any ideas? Rick

Is there a second relay? Sounds dumb but I think I had a master relay for the house lights and then individual relays for specific areas or lights. Maybe the cargo lights are set up in a similar fashion.

2 wires to outside light fixture—- maybe — shot in dark one is grounded that shoulden be. sounds like it won’t make sense in 12 volt dc circuit— believe me I know. but actually elect feedback circuits do some wierd things.. the killowatt guys will argure to thier end. check the fixture .or look around relay for a strand one strand of wire touching a ajoining a hot lead. Have found them switched to ground instead of hot..(really not realivant) in this disscussion. grasping at Ghost here……Touch your meter to the skin of the bus and feed to light and see which way the dc flow is thru the bulb? led or ? Bob

Tom I bought the relays from liberty. Will investigate more this weekend. Rick
