The cost of German engineering…

I recently replaced the world’s most expensive automotive rheostat. The throttle position sensor that’s mounted under the gas pedal has a $270 price at the Detroit Diesel shop in Vegas. Given I was in Vegas I just chocked it up as another gambling loss.

Seriously, see if you can find any of the manufactures markings. It’s probably a Bosch part.

It should be the same then. I put a call into Prevost Ft. Worth (I am about an hour away this week) to see if they have it there. I am waiting on a call back from them. If not then I guess I can order from Prevost Parts and have it shipped. Is that what you did?

Mine is still working some but it is on its way out. I appreciate all of the help.

I just order through parts in IL and they ship from the closest facility that has the parts. Usually, Jacksonville or Nashville for me and one day shipping UPS.

The 287.962 12 volt control unit was $496.28 at Prevost. That is the cheapest new one I have found. DKO

Tom, what were the symptoms that pointed you in the direction of the flame sensor?

I’m replacing one of the circulator pumps in my Webasto heating lines. Prevost doesn’t have 12V pumps, just 24V units. I ended up ordering a pump and new seals for the old one from Midwest Bus Parts. MP Pumps, the manufacturer of the pump, was most helpful with identifying the part number.
