With our diesel power boat with 2… DD 6V92 nearly all maintenance was based on hour run time. I know there are exceptions to this rule and owners justify when they feel it should be changed.
Reading recommended oil change intervals posted by the DD manufacture. Referring to running a diesel engine in harsh conditions. Example, severe dust, severe rain, high engine start and stop. These would be taken into account to extend or increase change intervals.
I have always gone by hours running in service to manage changing fluids. Going by mileage sometimes is not the best reason.
I normally do not turn off the engine in a rest area while stopping for a meal.

I had my air bags checked by Prevost in January. I told them, they had never been replaced, and asked if they should be. So, they inspected them, and said they looked like new, no cracks or anything. The chassis is a ’03, so the 10 year suggestion has passed. My question is, would you replace them anyway??
This is my third Vantare, and the first one I’ve owned that doesn’t have any major air leaks (knock on wood), has always been stored inside in a heated and cooled shop, tires sitting on carpet, and has never been up north on a salted road, so there is literally NO corrosion on anything. All the techs at Prevost had to come over and look underneath, because they could not believe how clean it was. The mileage is 39,000
So what would you guys do on the air bags?

Bill, Can I get your number to discuss buying new marker lights?

I love Jon,
But given his advanced age, I’ll hold the ladder….

Have not had to rebuild my electric microphor, but I know the sweet satisfaction of changing the gasket two weeks ago and to come home to a full bowl after a night on the town!
What else can one say?

On my vantare when I hit the water fill button the pump does not run. It takes appx 20-30 min to fill. I guess depending on pressure

Walt,
Give Leon at marathon a call. with your coach number. It might be as simple as resetting the techlink module that controls that zone. Leon will be able to point you in the right direction and tell you where the module is. I have had similiar issues and just unplugging and repluggin the tech link module in the rear closet did the trick. Hope your fix is as easyll

Our coaches have a primary (rear axles) and secondary (steer axle) air systems dedicated solely to braking. Nothing else is on those two systems. When those two systems are satisfied with sufficient air pressure only then does pressurized air flow into the coach accessory system. In other words, unless or until the brake system air tanks are satisfied with sufficient air pressure, nothing else on the coach will receive air pressure.
Further, if one of the two brake systems has a malor leak that the air compressor (engine) cannot keep up with only the system with the leak is going to lose air. There are protection valves and check valves that are built into the system to insure against the total loss of brakes in the event of a problem with air leaking.
When a brake system such as AF-1 is used for the toad its air supply becomes one of the brake systems, usually the primary. If you have a system such as AF-1 or any of the others a legitimate question to aks the manufacturer is if the installation develops a leak does its loss of air also drain air from the bus system to which it is attached. Using the exact same types of protection valves and a dedicated air tanks it can be installed in such a manner as to insure if it does leak it will limit the leak to its own system.
In our seminar’s we demonstrate how the air systems can be individually drained of air pressure, while the other air systems retain their pressure.

Sounds like the key to the program is to get the counter guy to enter 31999 as the account number.
I had the same problem locally and in a nice way asked the counter dude to please enter the account number. After he did that no problem. Mine is an independent Napa and takes a little diplomacy to make it happen. Each time I go there, the same thing happens, so I just go in with the right frame of mind knowing that I’ll have to train someone. They really don’t give a shit, it’s easier for them to say they never heard of AITA and get more money from you.
It’s worth the effort, I’ve saved a bunch of money with the card.
Thank’s Al.

Gerald, I believe later model S-60 DDEC engines use EGT as part of the data, but earlier models, including my 05 engine with an EGR engine do not.
I do know from extensive study when I switched from leaning my plane from rich of peak to lean of peak that the EGT is a big factor in determining engine health. But our engines are programmed so we cannot hurt them.
I suspect all unmodified diesel engines run well lean of peak, and with DDEC functioning as intended it is controlling EGT such that it never becomes an issue. The older 8V92 engines had pyros on both manifolds and it was often repeated that drivers had to limit the EGT to 1100 or some similar value. But in all my reading I never found any limitations stated by Detroit. Now with the DDEC engines unless the program has been modified having the EGT is nothing more than a piece of information because we have zero control over it, regardless of how hard we drive the coach or what mode the transmission is in.
I cannot read EGT on my Nexus or message center.

I-10 from 75 will bring you into JAX. I think 16 will bring you into Savannah.
Other option is to continue on 75 and take 40 (through Ocala) over to Daytona Beach. This will let you bypass JAX and the 295 outerloop around JAX.
As for I-95. My brother came down it yesterday and was turned around a good 40 miles past I-20. He ended up going back to I-20 west to Columbia and then down I-26 back to I-95 and then down into Jacksonville.
I-20 out to Columbia and then I-26 back to I-95 isnt that bad and only adds another couple hours to the trip so not terrible. Still more direct then going over to I-75 and going through ATL (which is a nightmare all it’s own on the best day).

Jim and Chris,
Congratulations again on the new bus. Looks great even upside down. We both look forward to seeing it in person. A friend once suggested to me that I could save fuel if I pulled the bus with the diesel Denali . Safe travels. -
Is windows 10 so good I should give up my use of MS-DOS?

I used this service to appraise my 1965 MCI for agreed value for insurance.I believe it was under $200 and it was 7pages with photos all sent to insurance
company by email. He never did a coach before and was within 5k of what I thought
as value. They have agents around country, Tom was nearest to me in Fl, he came to coach in campground.
