Stores around us never did honor it. They said they had to be corporate owned stores.

Independent owner / operators of NAPA stores have the choice to participate in the program. It is solely the owners choice. Company owned stores are all enrolled.
Its beyond reasonable logic to figure out why NAPA would spend thousands of dollars to fund a program to bring customers like yourself into the store and then turned away.
I also blame the company sales people for not promoting the benefits to NAPA store owners.

I tried to use the card a couple weeks ago at my local NAPA (that I have used the card at before) and they said the account had been closed. bummer – but it was awesome while it lasted:)
FYI – I tried it again today (24OCT) at my local NAPA (as noted above) and it worked great this time – saved me a small pile of $. Not sure what the issue was last time but it worked great today!

Maybe something has changed with the NAPA-AITA program. I’ll make some calls.

I used the card today in Sundance, WY. The computer wouldn’t recognize the card, so the clerk ran the sale as a local account with the same discount.
I have used the NAPA card in Gillette, Lusk, & Sundance, WY and Valentine, NE. I don’t think any of these are corporate stores.
Thanks for the $$$ savings!

NAPA part discount program is all well and good. Today I called the NAPA headquarters VP in KC asking if there were any changes in this very popular program.
As a favor to me and to be absolutely sure a call was placed to Atlanta, world headquarters.
The NAPA-AITA program is still in place and nothing has changed. A NAPA-AITA program card has all the info needed to get a parts discount. The back of the card has the information for the counterman…shown above.
Keep in mind some items are not under this profile. Our feed back tells us batteries and filters are very popular.
The NAPA counter person then follows the store instructions on the back of card. The NAPA counter person …MUST ENTER 31999.. in the account box. If they enter AITA it will not work. This is a national program and all stores have the program logged in their computer which, by the way are undated every night.
A) Some independent owners have refused to share the discounts available and not participate at all. Some independent owners will not follow the coding set-up listed above…lazy comes to mind.
All company stores will honor the program.
B) Some counter persons I’am told are not properly trained and have never seen a NAPA-AITA card. I can’t fix that.
I hope this will help our members with knowing more about NAPA-AITA then some NAPA employees.
Apply for the NAPA card and please enter Prevost Community in account name. That way PC involvement is tagged when the card is issued.
There is no charge for a NAPA-AITA card. You can apply on line here on the PC site. 10-14 days for card arrival.

thanks for looking into this Al. Quick qiestions, are the instructions you mentioned new or should our cards still work as they have in the past?
Thanks,
-
Everything is the same, nothing has changed.
It seems 2 PC members found local independent store / owners who have no interest in this program or employees not briefed on a national parts program.
BTW…AITA program started around 1997, NAPA became involved in early 2000’s

Sounds like the key to the program is to get the counter guy to enter 31999 as the account number.
I had the same problem locally and in a nice way asked the counter dude to please enter the account number. After he did that no problem. Mine is an independent Napa and takes a little diplomacy to make it happen. Each time I go there, the same thing happens, so I just go in with the right frame of mind knowing that I’ll have to train someone. They really don’t give a shit, it’s easier for them to say they never heard of AITA and get more money from you.
It’s worth the effort, I’ve saved a bunch of money with the card.
Thank’s Al.

Thanks for doing the research Al!
I look forward to using my card at a company NAPA store to first buy all those tools (if they are covered by this program) they tell me to carry in the Bus at the seminar.

Tim,
When you go into NAPA present your card. Many part line codes are added all the time.

Thanks Al and Tom, I will try it this week and provide feedback….last time I called I was told they have to switch me to another program…

My local NAPA is not a company store. All my attempts to use the card were met with “we don’t accept that”. But each time I went in I would try. Finally on my last visit a new guy was behind the counter. I ask him very nicely to follow the instructions on the back of the card and he was amazed. It worked and saved me a lot of money. So keep trying, you never know when you might get a counter person that is willing to try something new.
Thanks Al, when it works it really is a great benifit for us. Every dollar saved on parts is another dollar for fuel.
