Dan, any photos of the interior damage, and what objects came loose or went flying, if any?
A concern is being struck from behind by cabinetry or other objects like small appliances or table lamps.

When one of mine broke (lifting arm) in a wind gust down on the coach, went with a Maxxair Plus Fan as it has 2 lifting arms, rain sensor and 10 speeds. Fit right back into hole and just wired in back in to 12 volt wire that was there. When the other one dies will put the Maxxair back into that hole. Seems like the the 2 lift arms are a whole lot better.

It was a Microphor & replaced it with a Techma. The footprint was very close with only a short space between the toilet & wall but that allows access if needed. The Techma is a rear discharge just like the Microphor so no major floor changes had to be made.

I hope you don’t mind I add some other options. In our previous Eagle we had a 6v92. I had a faulty fuel gage early on in ownership & ran out. I did have to get some fuel with the toad & a borrowed 5 gal jug to get 10 gals of fuel in the tank. For whatever reason I kept a gallon jug of diesel on board & pulled the filter plugs & filled them by transferring some fuel to a dish washing soap bottle. Don’t forget to have a small funnel around. I then removed the downstream connector to the 2nd filter (closest to engine) & used the dish soap bottle full of fuel to fill the line while having someone crank the engine. Once running I quickly reinstalled the fuel line & it kept running. If you don’t want to keep a fuel can on board use a siphon hose (especially if you know how to do it with your thumb not mouth) & fill the dish washing soap bottle a few times to fill up the filters & then go to the line.
A friend installed an electric fuel pump in line on his 8V92 just in case this ever happened. He uses the pump to fill the filters & line.
And of course if you don’t feel mechanically able or don’t have any of the above options now would be the time to call Coachnet or Sams roadside & they will get you the help you need. Jon I know you are not into the roadside assistance insurance but not everyone is as knowledgeable or confident in their abilities to handle even what seems to be the small things. Good Luck all!

There’s another problem with all this: it’s another step in removing personal responsibility from people. When the car crashes… “it’s not my fault… the computer did it!” A bad direction we’ve been headed as a society in my opinion. Too much “not my fault” and “I’m a victim” going on.
Also, I think the safety argument is really just the way they are trying to sell the tech. To the end buyer and the regulators. It’s just that the companies want to sell more stuff and if they have the new “safe thing” then people might buy their stuff instead of the competition.

We need to stop trying to fix stupid. RV parks that have age restrictions or who make it difficult to make reservations get erased immediately from my list of places I will visit. Life is too short to deal with either.

I did all mine before I sold the coach so here is what I had to do.
Cut a 2X4 the correct length that will hold the door all the way up,
put the strut on the inside ball joint, the one back inside the bay first,
then if you still need to compress the strut, get one of those nylon ratchet straps and wrap around the entire strut so you can ratchet the strut to a length that will go on the ball joint on the door hinge.
Make sue the ratchet portion of the strap is to the outside away from the bay wall so you can work the ratchet.

Some thoughts that come to mind, related to cars and to drivers.
1) To improve gas mileage manufacturers strive to save weight which makes cars more agile, i.e. accelerate, stop, and change direction more easily. These folks don’t have a clue as to the agility of 50,000 pounds.
2) With the proliferation of technology, people get less bored, so they don’t need to get out for a drive just for the engagement fun of driving. And manufacturers are striving to take away more and more and all of human input needed to drive. When something is less interactive/fun we don’t do it as much = less experience = increased risk.
3) As the country gets more crowded, our tolerance for having more people in our way is less, i.e. road rage etc.
4) According to a tv commercial, as we age, our brain changes.
Now, to be clear, I had one philosophy class in college, but I made all this up.
