Les, pick up a roll of the red Scotch double sided tape and stick it back on. That stuff is what car manufactures use, just make sure it is where you want it when you place the trim.

The problem is that only part of it is loose. I don’t think that I can get it off far enough to reattach it safely.

I’ve used some contact cement and clamped it with OK results. It’s not perfect. There is a section of the other side that I can tell is coming loose also.

I think the best long term solution is to replace both trim pieces.

Les, if you buy new pieces you still have to adhere them so take care and try to remove them before buying new ones.

If you can use some thin stainless steel wire such as what is used to secure nuts and fasteners on planes and engines. Add a wooden handle on each end with a dowel and about 12″ between dowels and start pulling it through starting at the loose end by see-sawing the wire between the back of the existing stainless trim and the headlight housing.

If you fail or you damage the existing trim then buy the replacement. Once you have it removed you can probably remove the remnants of the adhesive or tape originally used and rebond the trim.

Similar to what Jon said, you could try sawing through the adhesive using dental floss. Then use 3M General purpose Adhesive Cleaner to remove the residue.

What Dan said. We use dental floss to cut wet glazed heavy glass shower door panels apart. It cuts right through silacone and no scratching. If the tape is too tough try mason line. It will not cut as fast but wont break.

Bill, I looked on the IBP catalog and saw everything EXCEPT the headlight trim.

Sorry for the delay not suprised by the catalog lack of item. I know they have them they had a set in the booth in West Palm just give them a call.

Bill, I got a quick response and yes, they have the stainless steel trim and an easy LED upgrade. The stainless is around $350/set and all 4 LED headlamps are around $1,000.

I’ll probably jump on it after our next trip. There is a 2 week lead time on the stainless.
