You can go to the auto parts store and they will loan you a cooling system pressure tester. It is a cap with air hose that fits on the radiator. Fill to 10-15 psi and you’ll know real fast if there is a coolant leak.
If it is not a bad leak sometimes you can loosen the head bolts, retorque and all will be good.
And an alternative to the cooling system check is to use a leak down tester on the cylinder, screw the hose into the spark plug hose and used compressed air through two gauges.

As a guy that is also looking are you saying that a pre EGR engine or a 40 foot would get around 8 MPG. Not that it is that important but better fuel mileage gives more money to but parts for the bus.
I talked to a dealer yesterday about a 2001 asking if the dlam had been checked. He said Prevost rips people off on that subject and no need to check. Along with the other questions he evaded I think I will take your advice and move on.

I would certainly press Martin or Dale on the issue. Could be a corrupt line in the software code.
I worked with them for a year and a half on an erroneous fuel gauge.
Finally went to their shop in Oregon and sure nuff was a bad line of code in the interface box that translated the DDEC info.

Jimmy, I can’t speak for Tom, but the discussion about preparedness has value. Examining the underlying causes of the reasons for discussing the reasons for talking about preparedness may be a stretch but I think we would be a sad group if our members were unable to talk a little about our personal feelings.
If I am wrong I yield to Tom if he thinks the thread has run its course.

To the cheese guy, I downsized for simplicity with no regrets and yesterday after 5 hrs on the road in 93 degree heat, the fan clutch never cycled until getting off the road at TA for fuel, then it engaged for about 5 seconds. The fuel usage was up a little, only got 9.8. Had my first service 2 weeks ago, oil, lube and filter was 1300. Learning the multiplex system, solar charging, AGS and how long my DEF will last. I’m so bored, nothing to fix.

There’s no doubt in my mind at AT&T regrets its purchase of DirecTV. It appears they are hoping to phase it out in the very near future.

That’s a good way to do it, I only have Dish in the coach and it’s 940 a month for top 120 and no premiums. I do like the turn on and off feature and local channels, they’re much more RV friendly that Direct.

Craig, you are correct about not bad to change as long as you have a strong back and long arms or room to use a lifting device.
But an XLII has the clutch so far in that only Charles Atlas is going to have the upper body strength to lift it with his arms extended.
How about Prevost buying a clutch that lasts longer than an oil change?

I always just turned it off and after the cool down period it was dead.

After I retired and sold my business I drove long haul for about 3 months every summer. The average age of OTR drivers is about 55. These are the weathered guys. Pros. It is a horrible life style. Bad for your health and the pay is not great. If I had treated my city drivers like trucking companies treat their employees I would have gone broke! But driving a 780 Volvo or a new Cascadia is awesome. I was lucky as I drove for fun not for a living! The new auto shift transmissions are magical! Driving in the mountains is not that difficult.
