Yes solar losses energy when hot. I wonder if you could put a sprinkler on it to cold it down. Oh CA. Ya’ll probably have water restriction.

Solar still has great difficulty with running the ac. Other wise you should be able to go off grid…Now if you go really really really big solar you might be able to run the ac and the heat. THen you could tell the utilities to go fly a kite.

We just had solar put on our house in the California desert back in March. The solar company failed to mention that solar charging falls significantly in heat (115-123 degress this summer) . I thought our system was not working correctly until I was enlightened that heat causes the system to lose voltage.

So, in the heat of the summer, with the bright sun shining, we were producing about half the energy than in April. All and all, we will do fine at the end of the year as everything will balance out. I would love to have a battery wall so that we could go totally off the grid with a natural gas generator for back-up. Maybe one day.

    Safe travels,

Resolved, as in the problem never came back? Or as in you found a problem?

We had the exact same problem. The temps started climbing on a recent trip, so we pulled over to find that the fan was free-wheeling (clutch not engaged) and the engine bay was very hot. While looking it over, the fan kicked on. We didn’t have a problem the rest of the trip. Back at home, we did a little troubleshooting with the low-speed fan relay by taking an old relay and bending pin 85 out to force the fan on, and it worked. We replaced the relay anyway with a new spare from Prevost and went out for a test drive. The fan worked fine, but the speedo stoped working on the way out. We pulled into a parking lot and checked for blown breakers, which there were none. Then on the way back, the tach stopped working too. There was no warning light on the dash.

After dinner, we checked again and they were both still inop. The next morning, the tach works but the speedo does not. These are the VDO gauges with the analog odometer.

(Now that I’m thinking about it again, I wonder if it was the high speed relay that caused the problem. If the high speed relay was inop, would that disengage the fan completely when it goes to high, or would it still stay in low speed?)

Any noticable problems after removing the fuse. after reading this post I removed the fuse #38 on our 2015 Tahoe,We have driven the vehicle but have not towed it yet, I did not notice anything different in driving and it did not change anything except the steering wheel does not lock. The steering wheel lock is the big PIA on towing this tahoe. after pulling the fuse I did shift the transfer case into neutral and back to drive several times, everything worked correctly and the transfer case did not lock up in neutral as has happened several times in the past.

And yes GM’s directions in the 2015 owners manual are not correct or complete. I got good instructions from a dealer in Chandler Az.

    thanks to all

Thanks Fred. I would expect the same thing if they found amo in the bus. I’ll make some calls and report back.

Instead of asking us, that is a good question to pose directly to Lifeline. My guess is they know more than we do.

The cynic in me thinks the folks selling the device are making unsubstantiated claims because if anything would extend battery life I am sure the battery manufacturers would want us to know.

101 AC using inverter. I thought I had these systems figuired out. Here is my question. You say you have 4 acs run by 4 inverters. Are you driving down the road with 2 acs on plus the dash air. Are the inverters recieving power from batteries charged by an alt? Thanks

Our 2000 Marathon XL 45, has 3 cruiseairs like Jim and Chris 40 footer. Usually we are quite comfortable running the dash air and the galley ac. The system allows the use of the bedroom and galley ac at the same time off the inverter. Occasionally in really hot climates in direct sun we start the generator and run all 3 cruiseairs and the dash ac. Sometimes it barely keeps up with all those air conditioners running. This is when OTR would clearly out perform. One reason is because cruiseairs are located under the bus just inches from the hot asphalt. Roof airs don’t have this problem but they have to deal with direct sun. I’ve not owned a bus with OTR, but like you I researched this in my search for a bus. It was my understanding that OTR systems are used in passenger transport buses where there are many windows and all those passengers generating heat. From what I’ve read OTR systems perform very well in that environment.

Dan if you carried some duct tape, you might have been able to stop the leak.

My panels have had different arrangements so I was reluctant to describe placement, but Dan is correct in that the breakers for each of the inverters will be adjacent to one another.

That’s normal.. This must be something other than a motorhome, lack of 50DN.
