My Latest Used Oil Analysis – UOA
I’ve been doing used oil analysis (UOA) on my vehicles for 8+ yrs. The main 2 reasons I do UOA is: 1) to educate you and me; 2) to help you and me maintain our vehicles.
Over the yrs I’ve used Blackstone Labs and Oil Analyzers Inc.(OAI) who actually uses http://www.polarislabs.com Indy location to analyze the samples I send in. I found OAI recommendations to be more conservative than Blackstones, so I’ve stuck with OAI over the years.
The engine in our 96 Liberty is a 1995 DDC 12.7L series 60.
The engine has 81,300 miles on it since new.
The oil is Chevron Delo400LE 15-40w.
The oil is 24 mths old and 5000 miles.
Oil filters are two 24 mth old Fleetguard# LF9620
No makeup oil has been added since last change(it doesn’t use any). Both sample #1 and #2 are for this engine. Sample #2 is about my current load of oil. Sample #1 is from 2 yrs ago, same engine, but different load of oil: https://prevostcommunity.com/forum/threaddetails.asp?Category=General Discussions&ThreadID=4595
This current load of oil is in great shape so I’m leaving it and the filters in place for another year, at which time I’ll either change them, do another UOA, or both.
