Found the correct relay. Pulled the relay and light went out. Replaced with new relay and light won’t shut off with switch. There are 2 switches for the cargo lights. Neither will turn off the lights. Unpluged the light switches and nothing changed. Any ideas? Rick

My 2001 CC has heat preset by CC at the factory to come on at at 40degrees. I like the light bulb idea better. No wondering about whether 13 year old automatic systems are working.

    Thanks, Tom.

I put a heater in the bay and left the hot water heaters on. Will keep a check on it to make sure it doesn’t get too hot. Had that happen in a previous motor home.

Does anyone know if Country Coach put electric heaters in wet bay areas? In Omaha, NE area and do not particularly want to run Webasto while here. Thermostat in bay area does not seem to be working. Has range of 0 to 50, works same at any temp. Found a heat only thermostat for a house that goes down to 35 which is the temp I read is a good default for the wet bay. Can I swap this out without any problems (other than my lack of knowledge)?

    Thanks

Yeah, gotcha Jon. I’m gonna start doing a lot of the goodies myself. I’m about halfway retired and have a barn now to work on it. The valve for belt tension is inside, above door in engine compartment. It had gottin partialy closed at Prevost somehow and fan belt were slipping. Didn’t have but 100 miles to drive and if you went slow it stayed under 195. Over 55 mph and it would heat up.

    Jon,

That is what I am after,A coach that if it does have a problem,It has a back-up system to handle the problem so no one knows there is a problem but me.If I can suceed in doing that I will be HAPPY!!

The worst thing that can happen to a full coach over the road system is th ecompressor can puke. But the compressor replacement is likely to cost no more than what it takes to put two roof units on the coach. There is a lot more than just buying them because you have the issue of penetrating the roof, assuring they are sealed and leak free, running wiring, possibly changing the ceiling to duct them, and then you still have so much less cooling you aren’t ever going to be comfortable driving into the sun on a summer day.

But you comments raise some questions. OTR air conditioning is only for when driving. How are you currently cooling the coach. I see owners of older coaches tend to think replacing whatever systems the coach has with new as somehow being better than fixing what was there originally. Usually abandoning the original equipment and installing new is creating a different set of problems, if not immediately certainly in the future. But why are roof units a substitute for OTR? If you abandon the OTR you have no driver’s air so by the time you replace the big OTR with a smaller compressor for driver’s air, plus add roof units you likely have as much money and effort involved, and far less capability.

On an 87 coach I suspect you will either have to have the generator running or you need a couple of good sized inverters and a bank of batteries to run the roof airs. Just trying to understand the logic. It would help if you added some information about the coach in the signature line. Maybe that will help us give better opinions.

It is the three air gauges that are just a little darker than the others , not by much

Signing up will not obligate you, but we will share the numbers so those who might wish to display coaches can get a sense of how many attendees.
