What my mechanic heard was there is a good deal of loss in the mechanical linkages. He said in the newest buses they added a 3rd alternator just for the fan.

BTW, he also told me about the Prevost test track session he did where they demonstrate how you can’t flip the bus in a tight turn. Said he was white knuckles but it was amazing tech.

I know a racing engine and our Detroit Diesels are two different things. I’ve sat in on two Joe Gibbs Racing Oil presentations given by their oil chemists/engineers. Gibbs got into the race engine oil business after suddenly suffering a series of on-track engine failures in their Cup motors and then spent a million dollars in R&D to discover what the problem was. It boiled down to unique additives that had been quietly taken out of high performance engine oil at the behest of the EPA. My engine builder pointed me to Gibbs after he had similar problems with his 850hp engines and learned what Gibbs had done.

There are only a few suppliers of the synthetic base product that synthetic oils are made of; consequently as I understand it, synthetic oil start out pretty much the same. There is only one or two suppliers of special additives that are needed for the extreme performance engines to survive at high RPM. So I don’t think this argument is similar to one I recall in the old days over whether oil from Pennsylvania was better for your engine than oil from Texas.

In talking to both Gibbs and a Schaefer rep about engine oils, I discovered that beyond the synthetic base there are lots and lots of additives that go or could go into oil depending on the application and how the engines are use. For example an engine that issued daily or weekly (or has a short life like a race engine that gets town down often) shouldn’t need as much anti-corrosion additive as an engine that gets used only periodically … like some of our coaches, my race cars, as well as hot rods and collector cars.

In the Schaefer material supplied above one would have to be a lubricant chemist to understand how those claims are achieved and what was used to achieve them.

Its possible that this Schaefer oil is better for how some of our coaches are used, but how much better is open for discussion and probably testing.

Personally, I’m not too worried about engine problems as long as change the oil and filters regularly, don’t hammer a cold engine, use a recommended oil, and exercise the coach monthly. I just don’t see posts about engine problems on the Detroit Diesels on the PC Forum or the three or four Prevost FB pages I’m on.

Spent several months in Nawlings after Katrina. Worked with a gent that was born and raised there. He said anyone that was from north of New Orleans was a Yankee. He had moved to key west. He shared some king cake with us. I got a baby in my piece. A place called Deanies or something like that in Metairie is a great place for some awesome Cajun cuisine.

Tim: I am envious of your obvious expertise with SketchUp. I’ve tried to learn it on two or three occasions and haven’t had much luck.

You’d like with details like that, a company like Steele Rubber Products would be able to re-produce it. As time goes on, I think there should be big demand for those gaskets.

Do the XLs use the same dimension gaskets?

Odie says, “Thank you, Diane.” She is excited and has been patient with me and our schedule.

Thank you for the encouragement. I hope you are doing well.

    Doug,

I called Prevost in Nashville about 6 weeks ago pricing windshields. They had a special going on at the time on glass. It ended the 31st of last month. They quoted Me a price for 1 and a cheaper price for 2 , 3 and 5. Getting cheaper by the qty. He even gave Me an estimate of labor hours to change each one out. If You call a Prevost service center and talk to a live Human, I am sure they will be glad to sell You just one.

Michael, do you intend to share the recreational chemicals you appear to be using? I am prohibited by my ownership of a Liberty to wash or even touch a Country Coach. Obviously what you think was me washing the coach was a mirage.

I have to read the fine print, but I may not even be allowed to walk by a CC.

I get a 50% discount on my next Liberty if I have a CC owner wash and wax mine so can you help me out?

The main issue would be how one would get the Marathon software onto the Raspberry. Did Marathon offer a Raspberry software image?

If you have lines through the display, either your display or your VGA to composite video converter or your VGA controller on the PC is going out.

You can eliminate the display if your backup camera works fine.

If you have access to the small PC you can replace the VGA to composite video converter (usually a plug in/add-on). They are only about 20-30 bucks.

If the problem is the on board VGA controller then you are up the creek unless it is on a module.

My Techlink PC is in the cabinet behind the driver’s seat. It does seem to have an add-on VGA to composite converter but I have not looked at it in detail since it is working fine.

    John,

You are correct. my Wabasto only supplies the heat exchangers in the salon, galley, & bedroom. it is completely isolated from the engine cooling system.

Very nice! I replaced the fog lights with Rigid Industries SAE driving lights and what a difference it made even with HID headlights. The combo while driving seemed like a perfect match.

Thank you all for the information.

Is the tiny O ring that gets mentioned in the valve body itself? I only removed the retaining ring (E clip), pulled the coil off, then disconnected the coil from the three prong female electrical connector and then swapped the coil.

With the retaining ring off and ignition ON I placed and removed the coil on the tube with the red threaded end cap several times and can hear the valve engage and release as I placed and removed the energized coil.

I realize that the center coil is energized whenever the ignition is ON and the selector is in the drive position but I was surprised by how hot it gets, is this normal?

Fred, there does not appear to be any leaking from the hoses or their connections.

I agree, I think it was caused by the maintenance work done.

I was running with a Pressure Pro. I did get a cross axle alert. When the pressure differential was only 5 psi 30 vs 35 I ignored it. Never got a temperature alert, or I did not know how to read the monitor.

I agree trailers are a hassle. Been looking at a H & H hydraulic tilt bed. Just drive on and strap it down.
