Everyone except Liberty owners will tell you that they keep perfectly cool in the Sahara, Gobi, Mohave or Death Valley with the A/C systems provided by their converter. Some will even tell you their conversions OTR system blows so cold they need to wear snowball suits.

The bottom line is OTR systems as installed by Prevost range from 80,000 BTU to 105,000 BTU depending on vintage. A typical roof or Cruiseair is about 13,000 per unit so if you run everything on a coach not equipped with Prevost OTR you still do not have the cooling power.

The deciding factor is you. If your definition of too warm is the same as someone from Minnesota consider OTR. If you are OK with temps acceptable to folks from Phoenix maybe you do not need OTR.

CC has a system their owners call OTR, and it tends to eat compressors, but the greatest complaint is if something under the coach needs service, like the air dryer, Norgren valves, etc. the position of the condensing coil makes access a huge difficulty. But it is reported to keep the coach cool.

Now that I have pissed off the majority of members here is the flip side of the story.

You can stay comfortable in every coach, including those without OTR. But if it does not have OTR make sure you understand two things. First, do not try to cool a hot heat soaked coach. Do whatever is needed to keep the coach cool and only really rely in the A/Cs to maintain your coach temps. Do not expect Cruiseairs to work when high temps are being radiated off a hot highway because the condensers will not get enough cool air. Only get a coach with roof airs.

Finally, if you do not get true OTR, plan on running the generator and set the temps and get every A/C running. It likely will use no more fuel than an OTR equipped coach, it helps the life of inverters, and gives the generator the exercise it needs for long life.

Most “Liberty” conversions(95+%) have the “Prevost” OTR ac/heat system. There are others but they aren’t common(5-10%).

If you drive a lot of miles, the “Prevost” OTR system is the cats meow.

CruiseAirs are “No Bueno” while driving down hot roads, and are about 4x more expensive to replace than a roof ac.

I’m with Ronald, I don’t understand all of it but I read it anyway because it’s all intended to help and inform. I’ve also been around long enough to know that everyone here is well intended. Let us not revert to personal attacks… Non of us learn from that!

Plus we all know when there’s a long thread with no mention of dues, it can’t be good!

    You guys are the best,

    Harry

I’ll bet the real answers to most of your questions are at your fingertips within those documents.

One thing I have learned and really appreciate is almost every feature on our coaches is based on logic. I have often studied a system to try to figure out how it works, why it works, and why it has certain features and almost always it is because the system designs have a certain logic to them based on how most people use their coach.

Please allow me to ask for everyone to calm down and to relax.

I have said many times that I have 2 left hands and therefore I do appreciate every comment and advice that members who read my posts do care to answer.

I may not always agree. I may not always understand but I read all of it and try to absorb the information and try to figure out how it may apply to my situation.

So let us all agree to disagree and go on with enjoying our coaches.

    Cheers,

    Ronald

    Per,

There are a bunch of ole truckers on here with multi million miles under their belt that have driven every conceivable combination, over dimension, stretched, doubles, triples, in all kinds of weather and terrain and did it safely because of their experience.

Instead of pissing an moaning about ole truckers you should listen to their advise and learn from their experience. The ole truckers are used to the guy that never drove anything bigger than a pickup and once in 45’ motorhome is now an expert. Those guys come and go often, it’s trucker entertainment.

You know how you buy a certain car or a certain color and then you see cars just like yours everywhere after that?

I do not remember seeing a TSD Logistics truck and I drive a bunch of miles. We get TSD fuel cards and what do you know?

My PressurePro black box is mounted near the driver’s side window so it is not in my line of sight while driving.

ETLC incorporated the display into the driver’s iPad. I can check it easily and it has an automatic function to shift to the PressurePro display should an alarm occur. I normally run the backup camera while driving and having the auto shift to PressurePro on an alarm is a welcomed feature.

The iPad display is in addition to the side mounted PressurePro control monitor. All the functions/alarms/displays of the monitor remain as a primary function.

I would have needed another 10 feet or so of antenna cable for a dash mount. The iPad integration takes care of that issue.
