  • Generator watchdog switch

Posted by William on September 2, 2019 at 10:29 am

On my driver’s side 2nd bay is my electrical center. There is this switch pictured below, that is mounted on the right side wall above the buddy plug. I have the generator watchdog, but don’t know what position the switch should be in. I have read my owners manual and it does not address this switch, and in my opinion the red tag does little to confirm it’s purpose. I’m not about to call liberty with the current hurricane situation to ask them.

Should the switch be in “on” position when wanting to use the watchdog? I have the watchdog setting “on” in the coach. I’m assuming that the switch in the “off” position would keep the watchdog from turning on generator.

red tag says down position for watchdog to work. FYI , if you do use the watchdog to autostart your generator. It will take your house batteries way below a healthy level. Somewhere between 11.1 V – 11.5V , and the most common used newer type AGM house batteries should not be taken below 12 or you will loose charge cycles in the lifespan of the AGM’s. It can be modified to start at 12 , there are many threads in the archives on this if you do a search.

    times 2 what Rocky/Gonecrazy said.

Use the words “15k resistor” in the search function here and it will have 2 good threads on changing the watchdog voltage.

How many owners with WatchDogs have actually done the switch of the resistor? Does it really work? Any downside to doing it?

Ditto what Rocky said, Marathon is similar, 10.9/21.8.
