Update ( again) I replaced the relay that had the red light and new one did not light up. The relay is labeled “inverter loss”

While I was having trouble understanding why #1 inverter was carrying more load, and for the last couple weeks before they shut down, I was seeing battery voltage drop,

Now after the reboot, the load is higher on #2 inverter, but batteries remain at 13v &26v.

    Thanks again for the replies.

Note– wrong picture, this was during “Bulk charge”

To Joelselman, On our old Liberty “Classic” the shore cord real has two 12v 15 amp blade type fuses that protect it, fuse #s 39 and 39A. On our bus there are about 60 12v fuses behind a clear plexi-glass panel in the 2nd driver side electical bay with the inverters, cut-off switches, gen battery, etc. But your “Elegant” may be completely different? I don’t know.

I have a Liberty owners manual that list what ea of the 60 fuses is for. If you have one it may have this info too. Look in the back of it.

*Note* I changed all these fuses to “GLOW WHEN THEY BLOW” type fuses so that they will be easy to spot if we ever have a problem.

Transmission temp of 210 deg should be ok. Max is 240 – 250 for non synthetic fluid. I think the 8V92 shuts down around 205. That is probably what happened.

How bad is the leak? Could you just refill the power steering and check transmission fluid and keep going slowly? Use low gear on inclines to keep RPM and coolant flow up.

You are almost on top of the Siskiyou pass, one more steep incline just before the OR border. Then it is all downhill to Medford.

How are your brakes? Jakes? There is a 6+ mile 6% grade coming down the pass.

Southern Oregon Diesel in Roseburg has a good reputation but it is a few miles beyond Medford and a couple of minor passes.

This is the unit that’s leaking. We suspect the pinkish fluid is steering…?

    Dan,

All of our tires vary in pressure depending on how much heat they get while we are driving. If you start out at 125 in the cold and get to warmer temps which drive pressures up to 135 (not likely but let’s pretend), you will be returning to the colder temps so it makes no sense to bleed and add air as needed during various segments of a trip.

I would suggest contacting Michelin and get their opinion on this but I suspect you will not be expected to readjust pressures every day.

I too had this line break going across I-40 in AR in July and it will get your attention as well as cause the compressor, at least on mine, to barely keep up with aux air and run full time.

Replace the line and put a cut-off on as Jeff suggested.

If you read any of the threads on this site, then you will realize that the place you want to go is ETLC or Tradewinds.

Both can fix or inspect anything you need and both have coaches available for sale.

There is also the PC Maintenance Seminar next month at ETLC. The best experience for anyone who has or is considering a Prevost. We went before we bought ours, and we went again after we had purchased it. We will go again if our schedule allows.

Tim and TG, could you please put more info here on what you ordered (brand, model, etc) so I can research further? Looks like I’ll be in this water heater club soon. I measured the existing which are 16 x 16 x 16. The 11 gallon Kuumas are something like 22 or 23 inches deep and I don’t see how they would fit. Can’t find the Atwoods, they seem to be out of stock everywhere.

One other thing I would do. See if you can get a listing of bus folks along your intended route. The folks on this site are risk averse and a lot have not worked on their coaches, but some have and some are very capable and willing to help someone in need.

But also post your route on some other bus sites like BNO and BCM and ask for contact information for folks along the route. The sites mentioned above are populated to a considerable extent by bus owners that do almost all their own work and there is nothing better than a guy that has tools, knows how to use them and most of all knows all the local shops that might have needed items.

A lot of folks on the other sites would likely tell you to kick the tires, light the fires and go. I think you should do what I stated in this and the other post because I do not consider breakdowns an adventure.

Because of all the abuse this year (I keep detailled records) from now on goodie bags are from members to me.

And I don’t need no stinking smart phone yellow corded thingy because I have a real borescope.

    Harry:

Has the operator of the campground/park where you coach is informed you and the other five RV owners what happened to the shore power? I would push the facility owner to determine what happened.

I’d like like to know (1) what is the size of the circuit/panel breaker that my 50amp shore power service is on and (2) how many other individual services are on the same circuit/panel breaker and the size of those services.

When the 50amp shore power went dead, does your coach automatically flip over to the house batteries? When the batteries got low, does the generator automatically fire up, charge the batteries, and then shut down? If so … did all this happen? Or do you have the manage the electricity manually?

I don’t have a smart phone or an iPad or a tablet. I use a PC so an app wouldn’t bring any value to me.
