FQRV is very convenient but has the issues that everyone has mentioned (don’t walk to the quarter at night and lots of noise). We like to stay at Bayou Segnette State Park which is in Westwego across the river from NO. It has paved roads and concrete pads with 50 amp service and water (no sewer but a dump station). It is very quiet and park like with lots of trees. Price is very reasonable (less than $35 per night). I give it two Aggies! (that means two thumbs up for the non believers).

Further update: I now have about 3,000 miles on the bus with the power module in place. Have been through several different areas with different hill conditions. The DDEC has stayed at 6.4 versus the 5.7-5.8 it did before the module installation. I use the DDEC number not as an absolute but for an apples to apples comparison. I have not yet had the time to do a timed trial with and without the module in place. My perception is still a significant power gain, no smoking, temp or other issues so far.

I think “trash” is a relative term. If the shoe fits, by all means wear it (with pride and your head held high).

    Tim & Cindy….

There was no intention on our part to scare you in anyway… just to enlighten you to the possibilities if you are uneducated about these machines…. like everything in life we get out what we put in.

I believe your being here is proof that you are willing to learn before you buy and you will benefit greatly from that.

George and Cory filled you in correctly about the Prevost Prouds Rally in Nashville… it is a social group.

Hope we will meet you in the near future,

I would recommend the Oysterfest in Bella Terra because the group is going to be more willing to allow a stranger to wander around, ask questions and get to see various coaches. There is no specific agenda so there is apt to be folks hanging around almost the whole time.

The buses are also more likely to be closer to the price range you mentioned.

You will also be able to put faces to the names you see on the forum and vice-versa making future communications a lot more enjoyable. For example I am the slender but muscular guy with a full head of hair and stunning good looks.

One thing rarely mentioned but which is of considerable value is the ability to communicate with such a large group as PC, which is now over 1860 members. You not only get widespread points of view, but if a coach owner plans on trading up you can be sure he might make you aware of his coach being available before it hits the market. The other advantage is after you are comfortable with what you see on the internet because you have been in and seen a number of coaches, PC members are all over the nation so if a coach shows up for sale a long distance away it is possible a PC member nearby can do a preliminary look at the coach and report back to you. Photos are not very good about showing exceptional care or excessive wear and tear so having someone nearby a distant coach give you an opportunity to filter out coaches that have obvious issues.

In case anyone is interested, I got the bus home yesterday afternoon. All is well, and it started again today with no problems. In talking with the tech who did the work, he mentioned that all the valves needed adjustment, and this is an engine with only 65,000 miles on it. He said it was common that Detroit 60 Series would need an adjustment at or prior to Detroits recomended initial interval.

I know there have been discussions here about this before, so I thought I would mention it. I have no independant information from anyone else, but if mine required it, I would not be surprised if others do too.

I also found out that the injector hold downs have a nasty habit of loosening up unless they have been re-torqued according to a bulletin that Detroit sent out to dealers some time ago. From what I was told, they tell dealers to re-torque them if they have any reason to be inside of the valve cover. They also changed the procedure for how they want it done. It is not a recall and they won’t pay warranty money to the dealer to do it, unless they are already on a warranty job.

My engine was still under warranty, but injectors are only covered for 24 months, so I had to eat this one. The mileage on injectors for warranty is 200,000, but the time trumps it in my case.

From the limited driving I have done since the work was completed, it seems to run smoother, and the Jake brake seems stronger. That also gets adjusted as it had to come off for the rest of the work.

This is just my opinion but I would not worry. When the bearings get to the point of needing replacement I suspect you will be seeing low oil pressure. Unless that is what is happening now, keep on trucking.

We are leaving today for Newport RI from Florida!

My plan is to take the NJ Turnpile as if we were headed to the GW beidge, but to take a westerly turn at I-80 (Ft. Lee area) and then get on 17 to pick up the GSP and on up through NY and across the Tappen Zee bridge. I think we’ll miss most of the lowest clearance bridges this way. I’ve never done the trip this way before, but then we’ve never had a coach 13′ 4″ tall before.

Any comments or suggestions for or against this route would be appreciated.

Unless the bus gets really filthy, we don’t worry about until we get home. While on the road, there is bound to be rain, so be it. Just Rain X the TV dome, and go.

Thanks Jon i am blind i did not stick my head in the bay far enough to see the numbers on the wires. Each Radio had a fuse inline blown just in back of each radio the fuse for the antenna was blown in the 12volt panel and in back of the switch to raise and lower the antenna the fuse was blown. all are working fine now plus the remote for the tv,cd changer, vcr with the red light at the center of the black by the tv is working. Do you know if the remote turns tv on and off through the tv or the plug for the tv??? i can change the channels and most other fuctions but wont on and off the tv.
