French Quarter RV Resort for NO JazzFest
Looking at JazzFest the 1st of May. Anyone stayed at French Quarter RV Resort? I made a tentative reservation based on stuff filling up fast now that the lineup of acts is out.
Thoughts on location for JazzFest. Seems to be the best of what I have looked at. Expensive but everything is for JazzFest. Just looking for any suggestions from people who have been to this place. Thanks

Chris, New Orleans has been one of our favorite go-to places and in fact we just returned from a week there.
We originally always stayed at the KOA (west) on Jefferson Highway in Kenner because at the time that was the only choice. We like the relative quiet, and we especially enjoyed the drive along River Road and then up St.Charles toward the French Quarter. It was a relaxing drive with great architecture. The location is also great for heading towards the various plantations, and I believe we have seen them all. some multiple times.
But several years ago we tried going to the French QuarterRV park. It is really nice as far as the quality of the sites and proximity to the French Quarter. But after several times we went back to using the KOA on the west side. The never ending sirens, the warnings not to walk to French Quarter at night, and the nose from I-10 that goes almost overhead were too much.
If I were you I would not cancel if you have a reservation, but to say we enjoy the safety and quiet of the KOA and not having to get a taxi if we want to get into and return from the French Quarter at night.

Chris, we stayed at the French Quarter RV Resort back in 2008 in our then new ‘plastic coach’.
I really liked staying there, we didn’t have any problems. The resort had golf carts to take us back and forth to the Quarter, not sure if they do now or not.
That was our experience then and I would consider it again but Jon’s suggestion looks mighty tempting as Uber would be perfect, regular cabs are gross.

PS. We used Uber for the first time last week while in Las Cruces, NM. I didn’t want to unhook the car just to go to dinner as it was a one night stay. I’m sold on Uber.

We’ve stayed a couple of times, like Jon said the grounds are nice. We’d walk during the day, cab at night. Our favorite restaurant in the FQ is GW Finn’s, very nice.

French Quarter RV is as convenient to the City as most hotels. Good access and 51 total sites. Will be there in two weeks for a Super Bowl party for a bunch of us local Saints fans. Win or lose, be sure a good time will be had by all as King Cake will be in full season!!

We stayed at the French Quarter RV Resort after the Maintenance seminar at Jeff’s in 2015. Nice place and easy walk to the French Quarter. A bit expensive, but to be expected for the location. We would stay there again.

Chris, we have stayed at FQ many times. Convenience overrides noise for us(originally big city boys) plus location can’t be beat. Price not out of line except when there is something going on i.e. Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras, Saints game etc, then it can double or triple. Passport America gets you 1/2 price. Geo.

Thanks for all the input. Sounds like it will be great for JazzFest. I’ll have my adult kids with me so “quiet” would be relative. Thanks for the passport America advice.

Chris, don’t know if Passport America works during spl events. We avoid those since one time our booking’s last three days tripled during the college football championship a few yrs back. But normally the 750 nightly went to 37.50 with Passport. Geo.

I lived in New Orleans and Old Mandeville for a dozen years. Still love coming back to French Quarter RV Resort regularly. I’ll be there for NOWFE in early April but not Jazz Fest.
In the past, I’ve bicycled to Jazz Fest from FQRV. It’s an easy ride over to and then left up Esplanade. There are bicycle parking areas by Jazz Fest entrances. Of course, bring your bike locks.
It’s easy to Uber to Jazz Fest but coming back would be tough. And there would probably be lots of cabs, but also lots of folks looking for cabs.
Barbeque Shrimp Po Boy at Liuzza’s by the Tracks. Best to go when it’s not a Jazz Fest day. You’ll be thanking me.

We have stayed there 3 different times for JazzFest. We ride bicycles from there over to the fairgrounds. I highly recommend it.

FQRV is very convenient but has the issues that everyone has mentioned (don’t walk to the quarter at night and lots of noise). We like to stay at Bayou Segnette State Park which is in Westwego across the river from NO. It has paved roads and concrete pads with 50 amp service and water (no sewer but a dump station). It is very quiet and park like with lots of trees. Price is very reasonable (less than $35 per night). I give it two Aggies! (that means two thumbs up for the non believers).

We stayed at Ponchatrain landing on the SE side of the lake. Nice place, affordable and for 5 bucks they bus you into the FQ and do P/U a few times a day with final pickup around 10pm. They have an onsite bar and snack foods also. We stayed there 10 days a few years ago and it was great. Not a negative thing to say about it. You can book to be on the channel or an inner site. They even have a site with a tiki hut and hot tub…
